Familia Nin-Ortiz "Nit de Nin" Priorat 2015

97 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "The Nit de Nin family has grown with the addition of a new vineyard. The wine produced since 2003 comes from Mas d'en Cacador-this was always named on the label, but it is now also specified in the wine name to distinguish between the new vineyard. The 2015 Nit de Nin Mas d'en Cacador comes from the vineyard mentioned in the name, a famous place in Porrera planted with old vines of Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Peluda and Carinena. It fermented in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in a similar vat for 18 months. It's heady and ripe, exuberant and very open, a hedonistic, round and lush wine. The palate reveals very fine tannins and great harmony. Drink Date 2018 - 2025."

Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Proprietary Blend 2015

97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
96 Wine Advocate
99 James Suckling
(8/29/2017) "I love the currant and rosemary character of this wine. Some sage, too. Complex aromas that draw you in. Full body, extremely tight and chewy with a long and intense finish. The tannins are fantastic - so polished. Focused and beautiful. Mineral undertone with ash and hot stone highlighting the dark fruits. It goes on for minutes. Needs three or four years to come together. But a serious red all the way."

Chateau Pesquie "Cuvee Ascensio" Ventoux Rouge 2015

95+ Jeb Dunnuck
(10/19/2017) "Another new cuvee from this family estate is the 2015 Ventoux Cuvee Ascensio which is mostly Grenache brought up in concrete tanks. This inky colored beauty is a tour de force from the Ventoux and offers smoking good notes of blackberries, currants, smoked earth, lavender, and pepper. Deep, full-bodied and opulent, give bottles 2-4 years of cellaring and enjoy through 2028."

Chateau Troplong Mondot St. Emillion 2012

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
94 James Suckling
96 Wine Advocate
(4/2015) "The 2012 is another truly great wine from Troplong Mondot. It's always sentimental to taste this wine, realizing that proprietress Christine Valette (the larger-than-life heart and soul behind this estate) has passed away. She was one of the bright, shining stars of Bordeaux. Nevertheless, her legacy is certainly well-established, and the quality of this wine is beyond reproach. Inky bluish purple, its great notes of cassis, blackberry, licorice are followed by a full-bodied, opulently textured wine with stunning concentration, purity and overall balance. It should drink well for 20-25 years and turn out to be one of the great superstars of 2012. Their 63-acre vineyard was cropped at 31 hectoliters per hectare, producing a final blend of 90% Merlot and 10 Cabernet Sauvignon that achieved 14.2% alcohol."

Robert Craig Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

95 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain comes from an elevation of nearly 2,300 feet, from a vineyard planted in red volcanic, rocky soils. Rich, full-bodied, and possibly the star of an impressive line-up of wines, this is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot. Strikingly rich, opaque purple in color, with mulberry, boysenberry, blackberry, graphite and flowers, the wine is rich, chewy, full-bodied, multi-layered, and just a sensational example of Howell Mountain. Sadly, most Napa Howell Mountain Cabernets of this quality sell for $200-plus, but this one is available for under $100, which is to the credit of the folks at Robert Craig. This is 25- to 30-year wine, although there's no harm in drinking it sooner."

Matthieu Barret "Billes Noires" Cornas 2012

96 Wine Advocate
(12/29/2014) "Coming from the upper part of Cornas and seeing 24 months in 400-500 Liter barrels (none new), the 2012 Cornas Domaine du Coulet Billes Noires is an incredible effort that's up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Its inky purple color is followed by an awesome bouquet of cassis, bacon fat, olive, peppered meat and iron, with additional minerality coming through with air. Classic in every way, with full-bodied richness, stunning purity and integrated acidity, it's a big, brooding and concentrated effort that's reasonably approachable now due to its fruit and texture, yet won't hit prime time until 6-7 years after the vintage and will have two decades of longevity."

Linne Calodo "Nemesis" Paso Robles Rhone Blend 2016

96 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2018) "Youthful purple. Exotically perfumed aromas of black and blue fruit preserves, licorice candy, five-spice powder and cola, complicated by a suave floral oil nuance. Broad and deeply concentrated on the palate, offering sweet, mineral-tinged cassis and cherry compote flavors along with suggestions of candied violet and cola. Stains the palate and shows superb power and spicy lift on an extremely long, youthfully tannic finish that emphatically repeats the spice and floral notes."

Robert Craig Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2018) "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder) is seriously beautiful. A healthy dollop (24%) of Merlot gives the wine terrific mid-palate pliancy and fruit depth to play off of the more intensely mineral and soil-drive signatures, of which there are many. Raspberry jam, crushed rocks, blood orange, white pepper and red cherry jam infuse this deep, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from Robert Craig. I would give the 2015 at least a few years to settle down, as the tannins are imposing at this early stage. Drinking window: 2020 - 2035."

Stonestreet "Upper Barn" Alexander Valley Chardonnay 2014

96 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "From a site made famous by Helen Turley when she was buying its fruit, the 2014 Chardonnay Upper Barn is at an 1,800-foot elevation and spent 11 months in 52% new French oak. A killer Chardonnay (as it always has been), the wine offers up notes of wet gravel, citrus oil, apple blossom, orange marmalade, honeysuckle, and a hint of almond paste. Fabulous fruit on the attack, mid-palate and finish characterizes this dry, gorgeous, compelling Chardonnay that should age effortlessly for a decade or more."

K Vintners "King Coal" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

94 Wine Enthusiast
95 Wine Advocate
(6/30/2017) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon King Coal Stoneridge Vineyard is another 80/20 split of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from the Stoneridge Vineyard. It offers notes of black cherries, red currants, dried flowers and dried soil/sandy notes, full-bodied richness and a seamless, silky, lightly textured and elegant style. It's impeccably balanced and while already straight up delicious, is going to age gracefully. Drink Date: 2017 - 2029."
