Catena "Alta" Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $29.99!

92 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(7/2017) "Bright dark red. A bit muskier and lower-toned on the nose than the Catena Alta Malbec, offering scents of dark berries and chocolate. Then opened quickly and gained in verve, showing e fine-grained texture and a high-altitude light touch to its spicy red and darker berry flavors. Pungent acidity is keeping this juicy wine quite tight today."

Castello di Volpaia "Prelius" Maremma Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $13.79!
89 Our Score
(8/2017) Sourced entirely from organically farmed grapes grown in the coastal Tuscan region of Maremma, this Italian Cabernet gives weedy, green pepper laced black cherry tones combined with riper raisin and plum flavors. With bright acidity and a hint of Bordeaux like cedar and tobacco, this is for Cabernet purists. Well done.

(12/30/2016) "The grapes for the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon were harvested at three different points of ripeness to achieve better balance and complexity. This usually has some Syrah from Barrancas in east Mendoza. There are varietal aromas, clearly herbal, perhaps a little blurry, in the shape of tobacco leaves, blackberries and a touch of spice. The palate is soft, with some dusty tannins giving it an austere profile. Better with food."
