De Wetshof "Limestone Hill" Robertson Valley Chardonnay 2018

90 Our Score
90 Wine Enthusiast
(5/1/2019) "A pale yellow color, this wine smells fresh, vibrant and inviting, with lively aromas of citrus, lemon-lime, yellow apple, green melon and a touch of mineral dust. Lightweight and well balanced, it has a bright acidic seam and fresh, zippy citrus and green apple tones, with hints of sea breeze and limestone minerality. Bright and sassy, this is well balanced and oh-so-easy to like and drink."

Bodegas Cepa 21 "Hito" Ribera del Duero 2017

90 Our Score
(7/2019) From the family behind the great Ribera producer, Emilio Moro, Cepa 21 was launched nearly 20 years ago with a vision for a modern, fresher expression of the region. With a short, hot growing season and yields limited by spring frosts, the 2017 installment of their entry-level "Hito" offers excellent intensity. With eight months in seasoned oak, the depth of dark fruit and minerality take center stage here, with notes of black cherry, black currant, blackberry, graphite and smokey loam. We recommend an hour of decanting, and plenty of flank steak. Very delicious stuff here. Do not underestimate this wine!

Domaine Lafage "Miraflors" Cotes du Roussillon Rose 2018

91 Jeb Dunnuck
(4/3/2019) "Light pink-colored, the 2018 Miraflors Rose is another great vintage for this cuvee. It has beautiful white peach, orange zest, and salty sea breeze aromas and flavors in its vibrant, crisp profile. It's as pure and vibrant as it gets, a classic, Provencal-style beauty to drink over the coming summer months."

Xavier Vignon "Vieilles Vignes" Cotes du Rhone 2016

92+ Jeb Dunnuck
(2/15/2018) "The older vine cuvee of the estate is the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes and it is primarily Grenache blended with 15% each of Mourvedre and Syrah. In this case, the Mourvedre vines are 60 years in age and the Grenache vines are 45 years in age. Aged 12 months in 80% concrete tanks and 20% in barrel, its vibrant purple color gives way to a concentrated, medium to full-bodied 2016 that's much more reserved and tight compared to the other Cotes du Rhone releases, yet offers beautiful purity in its blueberry and blackberry fruit, as well as subtle notes of violets, charcoal, and pepper. With integrated acidity and fine, polished tannin, this is a serious Cotes du Rhone that's going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and keep for a decade. Drinking window: 2018 - 2030."

Donnafugata "Lighea" Sicilia Zibibbo 2017

How about some Zibibbo? Donnafugata's bottling of this obscure white varietal is totally delicious. Making things even better, we're letting it fly for five bucks below the typical price!

(8/2019) "Luminous straw. Enticing aromas of orange, tangerine nectar, figs and sweet spices with a white floral topnote. Juicy and lively, with a saline undercurrent to the fruit flavors. A very pretty wine, just slightly less concentrated and intense than some other recent, better, vintages, but this is still an outstanding example of a classically rendered Zibibbo that tastes classically dry."

G. D. Vajra Langhe Rosso 2017

90 Our Score
(4/2019) With this 2017 Langhe Rosso, Vajra captures the beauty of Piedmont in a playful and energetic wine that is both fruity and complex. A field blend of Barbera, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and a handful of other Piedmontese grapes, it sings of fresh cherries, strawberry and raspberry with beautiful red floral tones and an enticing underlying earthiness that presents the wine's "old world" origin. This outstanding light colored red should be served with a slight chill and enjoyed with pizza, light pasta dishes, hors d'oeuvres or all on its own.
