Porta del Vento Terre Siciliane Perricone 2014

92 Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(9/2017) "Good bright dark red. Vibrant, high-pitched aromas of red cherry, wild herbs, flint and flowers (lavender, rose, violet). At once bright, juicy and dense, with terrific energy and focus to the red berry, floral and crushed stone flavors. Offers remarkable freshness and precision on the long finish, which features a palate-saturating yet weightless texture. A remarkable Perricone that combines the best elements of well made wines with Sangiovese (brightness, perfume, tannins) or Pinot Noir (fruit and minerals). Spends only eight days on the skins, then ferments in cement tanks, all of which contribute to the wine's bright, fresh fruity personality. Ages two years in large oak barrels."

Chateau Saint-Roch "Chimeres" Cotes du Roussillon Villages Rouge 2015

93 Wine Advocate
(4/28/2017) "Giving up jammy notes of black raspberries, licorice, smoked herbs and chocolate, the 2015 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Chimeres (aged in demi-muid and concrete vates) needs to be snatched up by savvy readers. Full-bodied, deep and layered with incredible texture, I actually called this a mini SQN. I would gladly pay three to four times the going rate. Bravo! Drink Date 2017 - 2022."

Packed with fresh fruit flavors, including raspberry and black cherry, this tasty red has a wonderfully soft, accessible mouth feel. Delicious!

(2/28/2019) "Smart Buy - Dark and concentrated, with the vibrant structure imparting fluidity. Dill, blackberry, black currant and toasted spice flavors linger, with the dusty tannins sealing the deal. Best from 2020 through 2025."

A.A. Badenhorst "Secateurs" Swartland Chenin Blanc 2018

90+ Our Score
94 Wine & Spirits
(2/2019) "Drought conditions followed by a cool harvest season produced a stunning version of Adi Badenhorst's entry-level chenin. He took an unusual approach in 2018, harvesting the fruit over the course of 12 days and adding each day's fruit to the already-fermenting musts. All of it was whole-bunch pressed, and one-quarter was fermented in old casks, the rest in tanks. Left on its lees for seven months with occasional stirring, the final wine is as deep and rich in flavor as its yellow hue predicts: It moves from waxy apple flavors to mango, wildflower honey and tangerine. It feels all of a piece, bright acidity holding the flavors taut and firm, a large-boned chenin fit for a crown roast of pork. All that for $16."

Carchelo "C" Jumilla 2016

91 Our Score
(5/2019) Rich and round on the palate with a velvety finish, the 2016 Carchelo "C" is an over-delivering blend of 35% Monastrell, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Tempranillo and 10% Syrah. Each varietal was vinified separately, then blended together and aged for four months in French oak. Offering an intense perfume of dark berries and earth along with good complexity and great balance of berry, oak, mineral and acidity, this drinks like a $20+ bottle.
