Joh. Bapt. Schafer Dorsheim Riesling Trocken 2015

Wine Advocate quotes a release price of $33-39 for this dry, ageworthy Nahe estate-grown Riesling. We're selling it for less than half that amount!
89 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) The 2015 Dorsheim Riesling Trocken is sourced in the Grosse Lage vineyards Pittermännchen (60%) and Goldloch (40%) but from younger vines and less well exposed rows. Macerated between eight to 12 hours, the wine fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in 1,200-liter oak Stück. It opens with a delicately fruity, stony, initially a bit reductive, yet intense nose with pineapples flavors. Full-flavored, very juicy and piquant, this is a very elegant and well balanced Riesling with grip and bitter grapefruit flavors in the finish. This is surely a wine to be kept for 3-8 or even 10 years. Drink Date 2019 - 2026."

Brand Pfalz Riesling Trocken 2016

89 Our Score
(8/2018) Daniel and Jonas Brand are fifth generation winemakers in the Pfalz region of Germany. The brothers have fully embraced the holistic biodynamic approach in both their vineyards and cellars. This entry level Riesling is everything you could want in a fresh and crisp white, especially because it comes in a liter bottle! The wine is salty with bits of lime zest and tart green apples. The acidity is searing and leaves one smacking their lips in anticipation of more. Taste this and it will surely become your new go-to for BYOB outings.

Von Winning "Winnings" Pfalz Riesling 2016

90 Our Score
90 Vinous, David Schildknecht
(9/2017) "Scheurebe- or Muscat-like scents of sage, mint, basil, lemon and grapefruit zest instantly catch your attention, while muskmelon and white peach offer luscious fruit fundament on a silken, buoyant palate. Twenty grams of residual sugar support the fruit while remaining virtually undetectable as sweetness. A colloquy of citrus, herbs, melon and subtly sweaty salinity renders the cooling, stimulating finish mouthwatering and next-sip-inducing. Drinking window: 2018 - 2021." (Germany)

Strub "Herzstuck" Niersteiner Bruckchen Rheinhessen Riesling Kabinett 2015

90 Our Score
(11/2018) We visited Walter Strub when traveling with Terry Theise to Germany in 2011. We were then, and are now, impressed with the straightforward tastiness of their wines - and they are still incredible values! Here's a single vineyard Riesling Kabinett for 15 bucks that you're going to really like. Citrus and orchard fruit flavors are presented in a totally yummy, fruity style and, like all great Rieslings, perfectly balanced by just the right amount of acidity. From the excellent 2015 vintage, this will be drinkable for many years to come.

Josten & Klein "Sua Sponte" Leutesdorf Riesling 2013

91 Our Score
(4/2019) Though officially a dry wine, this Mittelrhein Riesling shows a touch of playful sweetness at the beginning, finishing with dry, complex, lifting acidity. As this is a six-year-old wine, secondary flavors are beginning to reveal themselves in a splendid fashion, revealing honeyed yellow apple, baked red pear and deep yellow flowers. The lively acidity is very neatly tucked into a medium-plus frame, with a salty, lengthy, balanced finish.

Spreitzer "101" Rheingau Riesling QBA 2015

90 Wine Spectator
(7/31/2017) "A plush, powerful version, with white peach, apple, brown sugar and savory notes backed by vivid acidity. Shows more impact up front than on the finish, but persistent nonetheless. Drink now through 2022. 300 cases imported."

Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt "RK" Mosel Riesling 2015

From the best vintage yet of this century, the quality of this entry-priced wine is superb. Leans to the drier side of off-dry.
90 Our Score
91 Wine Enthusiast
(12/1/2016) "Editors' Choice - Superbly warm weather in 2015 gave an extra boost of sunshine to many of the Mosel's entry-level wines, and the RK is one of the best. Whiffs of freesia and tangerine peel waft from the glasss of this semidry Riesling. It's low in alcohol, yet so honeyed and ripe that flavors of grapefruit and peach seem to slick sumptuously on the palate. Zesty lime acidity freshens a lingering finish."

Gunderloch "Fritz's Riesling" Rheinhessen Riesling QBA 2015

88+ Our Score
(11/2018) Made by famed winemaker Fritz Hasselbach of the storied Gunderloch estate in Germany's Rheinhessen, the playfully packaged "Fritz's" Riesling is an excellent value that outperforms its super-aggressive $10.99 price. A hint of sweetness is balanced by zesty flavors of key lime and green apple. A perfect pairing for Thanksgiving, it will also be great match for Asian cuisine, a wide range of soups and to use as a welcome wine for your next get-together of friends or book club!
