Clos Marfisi "Grotta di Sole" Patrimonio Blanc 2017

91 Our Score
(2/2019) From the dry, mountainous corner of Corsica called Patrimonio, Clos Marfisi is producing some of the best Vermentino in the world. Using minimal sulfur and native yeast, the wines are fermented in stainless steel then racked to concrete tanks. A rush of white flower and limestone aromas introduce green apple, lime and a hint of beeswax. The wine is plush and weighty on the palate and sticks the landing with a long finish. A perfect choice for any seafood dish. Drink now or over the next 5 years.

Santa Maria "Tranoi" Corsican Vermentinu 2016

91 Our Score
(2/2018) Santa Maria has never before made it to our shores! This incredible Vermentino from Corsica is a masterful performance of texture, weight, depth and balance. Grown on a small patch of Schist soil, this is very different than the limestone inflected whites found throughout the rest of the island. The aromas are dominated by whiffs of fresh cut flowers on a beach being blown through the clean crisp air by salty sea breezes. Undertone fruit nuances of dried white peach, green pear skin, guava fruit roll-ups and blood orange zest are coated with wet rocks, stones and beach sand. Enjoy this gorgeous white wine with anything fresh from the ocean, raw or cooked. Delicious!

Domaine Giacometti "Cru des Agriate"Patrimonio Blanc 2015

89 Our Score
(5/2018) In the remote northern reaches of Corsican, the Giacometti family has been tending their vines for the past three decades. Patrimonio is a rugged, harsh landscape, resulting in wines full of distinct character. Tart yellow apples, salty cheese rind and a dash of spearmint and wild herbs create for a unique expression of Vermentinu, one that is distinctly Corsican. These island wines are exceptionally versatile, and make for the perfect companion with cheese and salty meats.
