Seghesio "La Villa" Barolo 2014

92 James Suckling
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
92 Our Score
(2/2019) The 2014 "La Villa" Barolo from Seghesio is a gorgeous and very expressive wine that is deliciously approachable and ready to drink now. A very clean wine, it leads off with pure red fruit flavors of cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate with notes of fresh cut red flowers, baking spice and a streak of minerality. The palate is well balanced by the wine's bright, lively and refreshing acid and soft, silky tannins that are well integrated into the long finish. Decant for an hour and enjoy!

Armando Parusso "44th Anniversary" Barolo 2014

93 Wine Advocate
94+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(2/2018) "Marco Parusso's 2014 Barolo is one of the most stunning wines of the vintage. In 2014, Parusso made a single Barolo that incorporates fruit from Mariondino, Mosconi, Le Coste and most of Bussia. Rich, deep and explosive on the palate, with stunning aromatic presence and overall intensity, the 2014 is remarkably vivid. Beams of supporting tannin give the wine its energy and persistence. Wild cherry, plum, mocha, dried flowers and lavender are some of the many nuances that take shape as this superb Barolo continues to show off its remarkable complexity and personality. The 2014 was vinified with 100% whole clusters and spent 24 months in French oak, 100% of it new. Drink 2022 - 2039."

Paolo Scavino Barolo 2014

#88 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2018!
93 Wine Enthusiast
93 James Suckling
93 Wine Spectator
(12/31/2018) "This starts out with plenty of cherry, plum and orange peel flavors, offset by iron, eucalyptus and tobacco accents. The finish is rustic, with the tannins flexing their muscles, yet this comes together in the end. A wine for the long haul. Best from 2023 through 2040. 2,500 cases made."

Luigi Pira "Serralunga" Barolo 2014

92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2018) "The 2014 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is the only wine Giampaolo Pira made in 2014, and is a blend of all the best fruit from the Marenca, Margheria and Collina Rionda vineyards. Powerful and dense in the glass, but in the mid-weight style of the year, Pira's 2014 has a lot to offer. There is plenty of the depth and power readers have come to expect from Pira's wines, but naturally tempered by the personality of the year. Iron, smoke, cedar, savory herbs, tobacco and cured meats add to the wine's brooding, virile personality. Drinking Window: 2019 - 2028."

G. D. Vajra "Albe" Barolo 2014

(6/29/2018) "A tribute to local tradition, the 2014 Barolo Albe represents an assembly of fruit from various vineyard plots throughout the area. Winemaking is classic in approach with a 25-day maceration period and aging in large Slavonian oak casks. This vintage shows silky, fine lines and a more accessible approach for near and medium-term drinking. I would recommend a few more years of bottle aging, however, to allow the wine the time to grow in texture and mouthfeel."

Moccagatta Barbaresco 2014

These four critical sources can't be wrong about this orgnically farmed beauty. We love consesus! Barbaresco is one of the few sites on mainland Italy that can count 2014 as a very successful vintage. The powerful yet supple house style here is a nice yin and yang with the freshness of the vintage. Smart to stock-up as this is have-me-now AND one to visit in a decade at a very special price.

(10/2017) "The 2014 Barbaresco is a delicious entry-level offering from Moccagatta. Black cherry, plum, lavender and cloves are some of the signatures in this dark, almost brooding Barbaresco. There is no shortage of intensity. If anything, the 2014 possesses quite a bit of power for its level. The tannins could use another few years to soften. Even so, the 2014 is impressive today."

Tenuta Olim Bauda Nizza 2014

We've just reloaded on our favorite Barbera of all time! We sold a load of it last year for $31.99. We offer it now for a "beats-all" price that is six bucks less!
93+ Our Score
(2/2018) Offering an amazing combination of flavor and structure, this bottling from siblings Dino, Diana and Gianni Bertolino is as good as Barbera gets. The aromas and flavors are incredibly pure, bright and dense, revealing layer after complex layer, including red fruit, fresh ground espresso, smoke, olive and a hint of barnyard. The taut acidity is perfectly woven into the gritty red earth finish, which seems to go on forever. So delicious now, and will be become even more beautiful over the next 5+ years.

90+ Cellars "Lot 26" Barolo 2014

92 Our Score
(11/2018) The "Lot 26" Barolo is from a small, family-owned winery in Piedmont. The care and pedigree are delightfully apparent the moment the cork is popped. With a bit of air, this wine shows an abundance of character with classic flavors of cherry, rose hips, tar, leather and wisp of baking spices on the finish. The 2014 "Lot 26" over-delivers for the modest price and will drink well over the next seven years.
