Cedric Bouchard "Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules" Blanc de Noirs 2012

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2016) "The 2012 Blanc de Noirs Les Ursules is another knockout. Here it is the freshness and energy of Pinot Noir that makes the strongest impression. White orchard fruit, flowers, white pepper and mint give the Ursules its distinctly high-toned personality. The interplay between the richness of the Pinot Noir and inherent tension that characterizes all of these wines is dazzling. Scents of orchard fruit, spice, herb and flowers infuse the creamy, voluptuous layered finish. Disgorged: April 2016. No dosage."

Cedric Bouchard "Roses de Jeanne Les Ursules" Blanc de Noirs 2013

93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2017) "The 2013 Roses de Jeanne Blanc de Noirs Les Ursules is one of the most accessible of these wines today. Creamy, open-knit and gracious, the Ursules is graced with tremendous purity in its fruit and soft contours that make the wine easy to drink and enjoy, even at this early stage. The Ursules doesn't quite have the pedigree of the top wines in this range, but it is hugely enjoyable right now. Disgorged in April 2017 with no dosage."

Krug "Grande Cuvee - 164eme Edition" Brut Champagne NV

96 Wine Spectator
97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(7/2017) "Krug's NV Grand Cuvée 164 Edition is a total knockout. Based on the 2008 vintage, the 164th Edition shows all the crystalline tension and energy that is such a signature of the year. At times, the 164 reminds me of the 2008 vins clairs I tasted after harvest. The flavors are brisk, delineated and pulsing with energy, while the more oxidative notes that are such a signature of Krug Champagnes are not especially evident. A wine of total pedigree and class, the 164 reminds me of some of the great Grand Cuvées of the 1960s and 1970s I have been lucky to taste over the years. No Champagne lover will want to be without this spectacular, captivating wine. All that said, readers should be patient, as the 164 is painfully young, austere and in need of serious cellaring. Drinking window: 2027 - 2047."

(12/2017) "A complete and wonderfully nuanced wine, the 2013 Extra Brut Efflorescence is fabulous. Bright and sculpted to the core, the 2013 exudes energy. Chalk, mint, jasmine and orchard fruit add complexity, but it is the wine's overall balance that is most impressive. The Efflorescence offers striking translucence and energy from start to finish. (12/2017) "One of the more complete wines in this range, the 2013 Roses de Jeanne Blanc de Noirs Presle emerges from a parcel planted with ten different clones of Pinot. The flavors are wonderfully nuanced and layered in the glass. Bright, saline notes give energy to the finely cut Pinot fruit. Understated and classy, the Presle has much to say, but like all of the 2013s here, it needs to unwind. Disgorged in April 2017 with no dosage."

Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Blanc de Blancs Champagne 2006

97+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2015) "The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the 2006 is all about texture. There is a real feeling of density and weight in the 2006, qualities I expect to see grow with time in the bottle. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2006 has been nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it. Comtes de Champagne remains the single best value (in relative terms) in tete de cuvee Champagne. I suggest buying a case and following it over the next 20-30 years, which is exactly what I intend to do. There is little doubt the 2006 Comtes de Champagne is a magical Champagne in the making. Very intense and complex on the nose, this is a full-bodied, round, rich and mouth-filling, but also refined prestige cuvée; it reveals a fascinating purity, precision and freshness. Henri Billiot Fils "Cuvee Laetitia" Brut Grand Cru Brut Champagne NV

92+ Our Score
(1/2018) This wonderfully unique and significant bottling hails entirely from the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims - known for its powerful fruit. Scarcely have we experienced as ripe and supple of a Champagne, the mindbender here being that the cuvee is composed primarily (70%) of wine from a perpetual reserve solera with vintages dating back to 1983. 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir. Ripeness is the key word in understanding this immediately delicious, but layered experience. Ripe green and red apples are highlighted by laser-like candied lemon, with a strong undercurrent of fine chalkiness all the while. There's a balance of length, power and finesse that goes beyond description. If there can be at once a connoisseur's Champagne that is at the same time a sumptuous, hedonist's Champagne (a category that is painfully fleeting), this is the one. Hard to resist but cellar for complexity, this is shockingly youthful and primary for a wine with so much reserve stock.

(6/2016) "The 2011 Grand Cellier d'Or Premier Cru Brut offers a clear, pure and fresh bouquet with lemon, limes and very chalky/mineral flavors that seem to be a bit austere in their youth. Round, elegant and intense, with great finesse and persistence in the finish, this is a remarkable rich, complex and highly elegant Champagne. It has some nutty and lingering mineral flavors in the finish. Great ageing potential, with great precision and complexity. Sourced from the Grand Cru Village of Ay, along the Marne river in the heart of Champagne, Goutorbe is one of the most giving and forwardly delicious growers in the Terry Theise stable of small, family owned properties. (11/2015) "The 2009 Brut Spécial Club is pretty much the polar opposite of the 2008 taste alongside it. Expansive layers of tropical-infused fruit wrap around the palate as this sensual, flamboyant Champagne shows off its personality. The 2009 doesn't quite deliver the visceral thrill of the best Gimonnet wines, but it does offer plenty of pleasure today. This is a typical 2009 Champagne built on ripeness and immediacy. (11/2015) Disgorged June 2012. This is a blend of 76% Pinot Noir, 14% Chardonnay and 10% Meunier. The wine was raised without malolactic fermentation in used barrels, spent three years on the lees and was finished with six grams per liter of residual sugar. It is a beauty that is full of orchard fruit. Importer Theise describes it this way..."it shows a streamlined chalky buzz below a vinous juiciness, and its flavors of corn, lime, balsam, coconut and ginger are still almost imposingly expressive. A Stunning Value." We agree!

Deltetto "Metodo Classico" Brut NV

(6/2017) The Deltetto family has been making wine in Piedmont since the 1950's. In 2000, their love of bubbles took hold (can you blame them??) and they began making traditional method sparklers. The "Metodo Classico" Brut NV is the best value of them all!! Juicy pear, Honeycrisp apple, lemon curd, dried apricot, spice and a bit of toasty goodness are backed by a clean acidic backbone. This wine spends 36 months on its lees (as long as vintage Champagne) which gives it that nuanced brioche note and a gorgeous round mouthfeel.

The fresher, more citrus-driven side of Pinot is front and center. This is a terrific showing from the Val Vilaine, but the 2014 needs time to be at its best to unwind a bit. The expression of Pinot here is crystalline and sublime from the first taste. Disgorged: April 2016. No dosage."

Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot "Indigene" Extra Brut NV

92 Our Score
(11/2014) A blend of 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 5% Poulsard and 5% Trousseau from the master of Jura sparkling wine, Tissot. Aged 30 months on the lees with no dosage, the secondary fermentation liquid, the "Prise de Mousse," is actually Vin de Paille (the dried grape elixir that costs big bucks) This wine in Magnum is so exciting!

Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot Cremant du Jura Extra Brut NV

91 Our Score
(11/2017) This delicious bottling is 50% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir with the local varieties of Trousseau and Poulsard making up the remaining 10%. The wine sees no dosage (the addition of sugar after the secondary fermentation) and the result is a bone dry "extra brut" wine with crisp and mouthwatering acidity complemented by a creamy palate. The finish is lengthy with subtle hints of nuts. This is a great substitute for Champagne if you're looking to increase value without sacrificing quality.

Sabine Godme Grand Cru Brut Champagne 2008

94 Our Score
(9/2017) The 2008 Sabine Godmé Grand Cru Brut is glorious. With its voluminous, creamy mouthfeel, our first taste reminded us of a great bottling from the likes of Geoffroy or Bollinger. A blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, the wine is on the dry side, with a final dosage of 5 grams per liter. Sourced entirely from Grand Cru fruit, primarily in Verzenay and Verzy, this sparkler gives intense minerality and brightness, along with an impressively rich and plump texture balanced by cut and nervy tension. With flavors of yellow apple, baked pear, crème brûlée, spring lillies, and a delicious toasty mid-palate, this is very high-quality Champagne. Impressively balanced, it has a finish that goes on for several minutes.

Jean Lallement "Reserve" Brut Champagne Grand Cru NV

91 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(1/2015) "(80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay; 4 g/l dosage; disgorged in March, 2014): Bright straw. Fresh melon, pear nectar and smoky minerals on the perfumed nose. Fleshy and deep, offering ripe orchard and pit fruit flavors underscored by a spicy element. Smoothly blends richness and vivacity, finishing sappy, spicy and quite long."

Andre Clouet Millesime Brut 2004

92 Wine Advocate
(11/2012) "The 2004 Brut Millesime is 100% Pinot Noir done entirely in steel. A focused, vibrant wine, the 2004 impresses for its sheer energy and cut. The breadth of the Pinot comes through on a finish laced with sweet red berries, crushed flowers and stones. This is a gorgeous wine from Clouet. Dosage was around 7-8 grams per liter. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."
