Chateau La Mission Haut Brion 2005

100 Wine Advocate
(6/2015) "The 2005 La Mission Haut-Brion is pure perfection. It has an absolutely extraordinary nose of sweet blackberries, cassis and spring flowers with some underlying minerality, a full-bodied mouthfeel, gorgeously velvety tannins (which is unusual in this vintage) and a long, textured, multi-layered finish that must last 50+ seconds. This is a fabulous wine and a great effort from this hallowed terroir. Drink this modern-day legend over the next 30+ years. Only 5,500 cases were produced of this blend of 69% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc. Drink: 2015 - 2045."

Chateau Pape Clement Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux 2016

(1/2019) "The 2016 Pape Clement is fabulous. Racy and sumptuous in the glass, the 2016 captures the style that now characterizes Bernard Magrez's wines from his estate in Pessac. Specifically, the 2016 is wonderfully deep in the glass, and yet retains terrific freshness as well. A rush of dark cherry, plum, smoke, scorched earth, grilled herb, leather and menthol builds as the 2016 shows off its compelling, inviting personality. I would prefer to give the 2016 at least a few years in bottle to allow its full breadth of aromatics to develop. Even so, there is so much to like. Pliant, supple and super-expressive, Pape Clement is gorgeous in 2016. Tasted two times. Drink 2022 - 2036."

(2/2018) "One of the stars of the vintage, the 2015 Domaine de Chevalier has turned out even better than I expected. Bright floral notes give striking aromatic lift to the rich, sumptuous fruit. A marvelously complete wine, the 2015 is racy and silky on the palate, yet also has tremendous freshness. Bright red cherry, blood orange, white pepper, spice and dried flowers build into the super-expressive finish. The 2015 has been nothing less than stunning the three times I have tasted it so far. This is a tremendous showing from proprietor Olivier Bernard and his team. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Tasted three times. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2045."

Chateau Brown Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux 2014

92 Wine Spectator
(3/31/2017) "Very solid, with a core of gently steeped black currant and plum fruit that shows ample depth, while notes of bay, loam and bramble run underneath. A loamy edge echoes longest, thanks to well-embedded acidity. Best from 2019 through 2028."

Chateau Lespault-Martillac Pessac-Leognan 2012

(4/29/2015) "This property, which is owned by Domaine de Chevalier, has produced a wine that is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a very supple-textured, medium to full-bodied wine, with an impressively saturated ruby/ purple color. The graphite, barbecue smoke, blackcurrants and black cherries make for an intriguing and fascinating medium to full-bodied wine with plenty of velvety texture. This is lush, plump, very complex and promising. Drink it over the next 10-15 years."

Chateau Le Thil Pessac-Leognan 2014

A serious buy here from the owners of Bordeaux's Chateau Smith-Haut-Lafitte. The Le Thil estate is adjacent to the famous S-H-L, yet sells for a fraction of the price!
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni

(3/31/2017) "There's lots of brambly energy here, with blackberry, plum and raspberry preserve notes rippling through, picking up anise and black tea details along the way. Has contrast and range. Well done. Best from 2018 through 2026."
