Clos i Terrasses "Clos Erasmus" Priorat 2015

99 Wine Advocate
100 Jeb Dunnuck
(2/21/2018) "The 2015 Clos Erasmus has a similar level of purity to the 2013, yet is a riper, sexier wine that has an incredible voluptuousness and depth on the palate that's hard to believe. Kirsch, blackberries, cassis, graphite, liquid rock, dusty earth, and violet characteristics all emerge from this sensational, full-bodied, expansive Priorat that has sweet tannin and a huge finish. While it's a very different wine than the 2013, it's just as perfect. The 2015 is 75% Garnacha and 25% Syrah, aged 20 months in 40% new French Taransaud barrels, with 5% in clay amphorae. There are roughly 250 cases produced and it's a heavenly, singular wine to drink over the coming 15-20+ years. Hats off to winemaker Daphne Glorian!"

Familia Nin-Ortiz "Nit de Nin" Priorat 2015

97 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "The Nit de Nin family has grown with the addition of a new vineyard. The wine produced since 2003 comes from Mas d'en Cacador-this was always named on the label, but it is now also specified in the wine name to distinguish between the new vineyard. The 2015 Nit de Nin Mas d'en Cacador comes from the vineyard mentioned in the name, a famous place in Porrera planted with old vines of Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Peluda and Carinena. It fermented in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in a similar vat for 18 months. It's heady and ripe, exuberant and very open, a hedonistic, round and lush wine. The palate reveals very fine tannins and great harmony. Drink Date 2018 - 2025."

Raventos i Blanc "De Nit" Cava Rose 2015

91 Our Score
91+ Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "The ultra pale sparkling rose 2015 De Nit is a blend of 40% Xarello, 36% Macabeo, 18% Parellada and 6% Monastrell from their biodynamic vineyards. The color is obtained by pressing the Xarello and Monastrell together, which result in a pale must. It re-fermented in bottle for no less than 18 months and has 4.5 grams of sugar, so it's an extra brut. It's deliciously perfumed, subtle and elegant, with a core of aniseed, fennel and Mediterranean plants. It's more serious than the majority of roses, more with the spirit of a white. The palate has the delicious flavors and the tastiness of the limestone soils and a somewhat bitter touch in the finish, perhaps the contribution of Monastrell. This is stunning."

Mas Doix "Salanques" Priorat 2015

92+ Wine Advocate
92 Wine Spectator
93 Jeb Dunnuck
(2/21/2018) "A blend of 65% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena and 10% Syrah, the 2015 Salanques comes from a steep, three-hectare vineyard located near the village of Poboleda. This deep ruby/purple colored beauty offers a stunning bouquet of blueberries, raspberries, violets, and hints of resinous herbs and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, with a light, graceful, elegant texture that just glides across the palate, It's not huge, but has plenty of intensity and length. Maturity: 2018 - 2028."

Herencia Altes "La Serra Negre" Terra Alta Carinyena/Garnatxa Negra 2015

Only a few cases available of this tiny-production, single-vineyard gem...
93+ Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "The 2015 La Serra Negre is a blend of old-vine Cariñena with 20% Garnacha from a single vineyard that names the wine. I see a lot less oak here, and the wines are showing better balance, more purity and letting the terroir shine through. This is a great Cariñena with the floral and tree bark notes, both earthy and ethereal. The palate shows some grainy, chalky tannins that provide a very tasty, almost salty finish. 2,000 bottles produced."

Partida Creus "SP" Penedes Subirat Parent 2016

90 Our Score
(8/2018) Partida Creus is a project from Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona, a Piemontese couple who relocated to Penedes, where they have since specialized in the revitalization of local neglected vineyards. This practice often gives them the opportunity to reintroduce near-extinct varietals, farmed organically and vinified naturally. This bottling of the extremely rare Subirat Parent, an old clone of Malvasia, is full-bodied yet low in alcohol (10%). Aromas of orange peel, gardenias and apricot introduce a palate full of tart lemon and grapefruit with a subtle tannic finish from a bit of skin contact. Crushable.

Partida Creus "XL" Penedes Xarel-lo 2016

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $33.99!
91 Our Score
(2/2019) Partida Creus, the project from Piemontese transplants Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona, produces natural wines in the Penedes region of great renown, and their 2016 Xarel-lo is a prime example. Hand-harvested from old vines, fermented naturally and left on the lees for 3 months, the wine is supple and complex, with aromas of grapefruit, lanolin, lemon seed, ocean breeze, jasmine flowers and a bit of muskiness. Bright tropical fruit on the palate with a streak of minerality and a pleasant, slight tannic element. Tremendously balanced with Xarel-lo's characteristic lean and clean elements, drink it now and over the next few years.

Can Sumoi Ancestral Montonega 2017

90 Our Score
(5/2019) Can Sumoi is the new label for natural wines from the superlative Cava producer Raventos I Blanc, whose aim is to produce wines from traditional Cava varietals that exhibit terroir without intervention. The Montonega (aka Parellada) is hand-picked, macerated for 4 hours with the skins, then partially fermented with native yeasts, leaving the fermentation to complete in the bottle. The result is a crisp, fizzy wine with bright notes of underripe apple flesh and white flowers, with a touch of salinity on the finish. Having mastered modern Cava winemaking, Raventos set its sights on ultra-traditional methods and they have nailed it!
