(4/3/2019) "Pretty, vibrant notes of white peach, white flowers, and salty minerality all emerge from the 2018 Prestige Rose. Made in a crisp, elegant style, it stays balanced and layered on the palate, and is going to be an incredibly versatile rose to drink over the coming 6-12 months. The blend is 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault brought up all in tank."

Maxime Magnon "Campagnes" Corbieres 2015

Campagnes is the crown jewel of Maxime Magnon, a naturalist from Burgundy who studied under Jean Foillard and Didier Barral. We have the lowest price in the country by a mile. If you want to experience natural wine at its pinnacle, it is hard to argue with this wine. From organically certified farming, incorporating biodynamic methods, Maxime farms a 100+ year old Carignan plot to create the very special wine you have here. They use whole-cluster fermentation and there is minimal sulfur additions at bottling, if at all. This wine gives intense southern flavor without heaviness or heaps of alcohol. To quote Kermit Lynch himself: "Magnon is the southern Foillard" - time for Beaujolais nerds to get outside their box!

Domaine Gilles Troullier "L'Espirit du Temps" Cotes Catalanes Rouge 2013

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $38.99!
94 Wine Advocate
(4/2015) "Checking in as 100% Grenache, the downright sexy 2013 Côtes Catalanes l'Esprit du Temps has full-bodied richness and depth to go with rock-star notes of black raspberry, crushed violets and hints of pepper. It has a serious amount of texture, yet stays light, elegant and pure. It too will have a decade or more of longevity."

Famille Dutraive "Cap O Sud" Corbiere Cinsault 2016

90+ Our Score
(8/2018) The Dutraive family, like many others in recent difficult harvests, have had to expand their horizons for sourcing grapes to produce their wines. This negociant project is sourcing Cinsault from Corbieres. It is very interesting to see these Southern French varietals through the Dutraive lens. These renditions are considerably more on the wild side than their Beaujolais bottlings. This is earthy and raw, with tons of energy and the first and only time this wine will be made!

Domaine du Pas de l'Escalette "Les Clapas" Terrasses du Larzac 2016

92 Our Score
(9/2018) Clapas translates to a "pile of stone" and refers to the rugged land where the vines are planted. The earth-driven flavors of stone and minerality are found deep within this blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Carignan and 20% Grenache. The wine is full-bodied and round with expressive and earth driven notes of stone, mineral, wild game, smoke, leather and spice. The fruit is pure and lush. This is a wine of great depth and length that fans of southern French red blends are going to simply love.

Domaine Leon Barral "Jadis" Faugeres 2012

A very special wine from one of the absolute champions of biodynamic growing. Only 126 cases made it to our shores! And our price is the lowest in the country by some margin. Holy cow, 38% off the $45 reference price!
92 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2016) "More focused and elegant than the classic cuvee, the 2012 Faugeres Jadis is a similar blend yet substitutes Syrah in place of the Cinsault. Made from 50% Carignan, 30% Syrah and 20% Grenache that spent two years in barrels, it has a healthy purple color to go with lots of Carignan black and blue fruits, violets, leather, and licorice aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, elegant, layered and graceful, with ripe tannin, it too can be enjoyed anytime over the coming decade."

Coup de Jus "Zeus Gone Wild" VdF Grenache 2017

90+ Our Score
(11/2018) Coup de Jus is a new mini negociant project started by the husband and wife duo that helm the legendary cult Jura house of Domaines des Marnes Blanches. 100% Grenache, sourced from organic vineyards in the southeast of France. Everything is done in tank for this small production wine. You get all the lovely bright and fresh characteristics one would expect from the south, but it is interpreted through a Jura lense. Mother Nature has been hard on a number of wine regions recently, causing a surge in projects like these. It is nice to see producers overcome by making great wines sourced from others areas. "Zeus Gone Wild" definitely falls into that category.

Domaine de Bila-Haut "Occultum Lapidem" Cotes du Roussillon Villages 2015

94 Wine Advocate
(4/28/2017) "One of the more polished, sexy examples of the cuvee, the 2015 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Occultum Lapidem checks in as a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and the balance Carignan and Mourvèdre, aged all in concrete tanks. It boasts killer notes of black raspberries, cassis, pepper and licorice, with just a hint of chocolate appearing with time in the glass. This medium to full-bodied, layered and beautifully textured red is an incredible value and will be impossible to resist over the coming 4-5 years, and I'm sure it will keep even longer."

92+ Our Score
91 Wine Advocate
(4/2016) "Another winner is the 2014 Corbieres Rozeta, which checks in as a blend of 40% Carignan, and 30% each of Grenache and Cinsault. Vibrant, juicy and seamless, with lots of sweet cherry and juicy berry fruits, flowers and some walnut oil-like characteristics, this medium-bodied, beautifully balanced and unique Corbières can be enjoyed anytime over the coming 5-7 years."
