Domaine Arretxea "Cuvee Haitza" Irouleguy Rouge 2012

Cuvee Haitza, the top-level cuvee from Domaine Arretxea, is a classic wine from importer Kermit Lynch. Comprised of primarily Tannat and rounded out with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a precise, chiseled, energetic, rustic old-world wine heaping with charm. This biodynamic red, sourced from a tiny 2-hectare vineyard, is long on power and structure, without any flab. A perfect pairing with hearty game dishes.

Fabien Jouves Les Agudes 2018

91 Our Score
(3/2019) From Cahors' natural winemaking star Fabien Jouves, this lovely blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Chardonnay and Semillon is superlatively expressive and refreshing. Aromas and flavors of Meyer lemon, pineapple, white flowers, acacia honey, and wild lavender are supported by summery acidity in this native yeast fermented, unfiltered beauty. For a producer best known for Malbec, this sunny white blend is a star.

Julien Braud Forty Ounce Red 2016

88 Our Score
(5/2018) The 40 ounce line maybe cheekily named, but the wines are tasty and go down very very easy. These are meant for mass consumption. This is all Gamay from Gaillac in the Southwest of France. Throw a couple of these in the fridge or cooler and you're ready for anything. Plus the packaging is awesome!

Chateau du Cedre "Cedre Heritage" Cahors Malbec 2015

89 Our Score
(10/2017) Just southeast of Bordeaux sits Cahors, a tiny appellation in which the wine production is nearly three-quarters Malbec. The 2015 Cedre Cahors is a brighter and lively alternative to the ubiquitous Argentine malbec, showcasing an old world sensibility with notes of earth and satisfyingly grippy tannins. A rich garnet color in the glass with ripe fall berries, bing cherry, toasty spices, black pepper and nutmeg filling out the palate in this unique and complex expression of the varietal. Pop a couple bottles with friends on a Sunday with your favorite football season chili recipe!

Terracae Cahors 2014

90 Our Score
(12/2017) 100% organically farmed Malbec from vines grown in southwest France's Cahors appellation. A glass-staining opaque purple color, the 2014 Terracae serves up grapey black and deep red fruit flavors followed by dusty earthy tones with a hint of barnyard. The palate is bright and lively with a gritty chew on the finish. A wonderfully French wine with loads of authentic personality.

Perigord "I'Oie du Perigord" White Blend 2013

87+ Our Score
(6/2018) Like biting into a sweet honeydew melon/watermelon cross, this fruity and aromatic blend of 60% Semillon, 30% Muscadelle and 10% Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect summer time white. Though the label reads "sweet wine", it is not. While there might be a touch of residual sugar at the front end, this wine is "dry" and would not only fare well at parties but also with sushi or spicy Thai food.
