Weingut Knauss "Zero" Wurttemberg Pinot Noir (2019) Brut 2013

93 Our Score
(3/2019) This special release from Weingut Knauss' 2013 Pinot Noir Brut "Zero" spent extra time on the lees compared to the last release and was recently disgorged in 2019. Wow, did that extra time add some serious complexity! The wine is bright and very well balanced, with a full-bodied mouthfeel, crisp and clean orchard fruits, deep minerality and an outstanding, crazy-long finish. Grab this highly limited sparkler now while you can and stash a bottle or two for your next New Year's Eve party!

Weingut Beurer Wurttemberg Riesling Trocken 2017

90+ Our Score
(5/2019) Jochen Beurer, a former BMX biker champion, has been turning out some of the best examples of dry (trocken) German Riesling from his small, certified biodynamic estate in the far souther reaches of Germany. His wines are incredibly precise and focused and this basic bottling of Riesling from the 2017 vintage is a stunning wine in the sub-$20 price category. A mix of fresh anjou pear, just-picked peaches and zested citrus lead into a serious depth of minerality with a whiff of smoke. Pair this bright and racy white with anything spicy, or as Jochen likes to do, pair it with breakfast!
