Marchetti Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 2017

88+ Our Score
(10/2018) The Marche region of east-central Italy is home to some fantastic reds and whites and is especially known for the Verdicchio grape. This dry, fresh example from Marchetti comes from the sub-zone of Castelli di Jesi, and it's excellent. Subtle notes of anise complement the array of citrus, stone fruit and salty, gray-rock mineral flavors while the zesty acidity and lightly creamy mouthfeel make for a balanced and pleasant drink. Try it by itself, with a variety of soups or weighty white sauce pasta and pizza.

Libenzi Rosso Piceno 2014

88 Our Score
(4/2018) This tasty everyday Italian red comes from the Marche region. The producer, Libenzi, is known for producing Verdicchio, the famous white of the area, but they also produce some red wine under the Rosso Piceno DOC. The wine is predominantly Montepulciano blended with Sangiovese and it makes for the perfect everyday pizza and pasta house red. The palate is well balanced with juicy dark fruit and soft tannins. Drinks even better with a slight chill.
