Domaine Vincent Paris "La Geynale" Cornas 2013

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
91+ Wine Advocate
(11/18/2015) "As normal, the 2013 Cornas la Geynale is the most structured, tannic and age-worthy in the lineup. Coming from the Geynale and Reynard lieux-dits, and fermented with 100% whole clusters, it spent 18 months all in two- to eight-year-old barrels. Its inky purple, mostly opaque color gives way to masculine (classic Cornas!) notes of crushed rocks, charcoal, wood smoke and plums. Big, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and with plenty of tannin, it needs 2-4 years of cellaring and will drink well for a decade after that."

Cayuse "God Only Knows" Armada Vineyard Walla Walla Valley Grenache 2013

94 Wine Advocate
(6/2016) "Grenache seemed to handle the heat nicely in 2013 and the 2013 Grenache God Only Knows Armada Vineyard offers a gorgeous, rich, almost masculine style (especially when it's tasted next to the No Girls Grenache) in its dark fruits, crushed herbs, mineral and leather scented profile. Even showing a touch of game with time in the glass, this beauty has fine tannin, plenty of fruit and a great finish, all suggesting it will drink nicely for another decade."

Val di Suga "Poggio al Granchio" Brunello di Montalcino 2013

94 James Suckling
94 Wine Advocate
(2/28/2019) "One of three single-vineyard expressions from Val di Suga, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio al Granchio opens to a nicely saturated color and beautifully intense aromas. Fruit is sourced from a site located in the southeast quadrant of Montalcino where steep diurnal shifts help to sharpen and maximize those pretty fruit aromas. Wild cherry and blackberry are followed by aniseed, camphor ash and balsam herb. This elegant wine delivers an impressive load of Sangiovese typicity. This wine was aged in French barrique for 24 months, and the oak is expertly integrated. Some 8,000 bottles were made. Drink 2020 - 2035."

Anderson's Conn Valley "Reserve" Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(9/2016) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is intense, deceptively medium in body and brooding in style. Lavender, sage, menthol, spice and crème de cassis infuse this striking, delineated Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2013 could use another few years in barrel, but it is quite impressive, even at this early stage. This is a great showing from the 2013."

Forgeron Cellars "Anvil" Dionysus Vineyard Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Born in Paris, Forgeron's Marie-Eve Gilla has spent over a quarter century honing her craft in the Pacific Northwest. Using old-vine Cabernet sourced from a small parcel in Dionysus Vineyard, she has produced a noteworthy wine with this 2013 bottling of her "Anvil" flagship. 231 cases produced. We managed to get our hands on 10 of them.
94 Wine Advocate
(6/30/2017) "An impeccably balanced beauty based on 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot from vines planted in 1988, the 2013 Anvil gives up notes of black currants, scorched earth and coffee beans. Rich, full-bodied, impressively concentrated and with killer purity, count me as a fan, and it will drink well for 10-15 years. Drink Date 2017 - 2033."

Coessens "Largiller" Blanc de Noir Brut Aube 2013

94+ Our Score
(11/2018) Jerome farms a total of 3.36 hectares in Ville-sur-Arce in the most southerly portion of Champagne, the Aube. From selected parcels of his monopole cru of Largilliers, this is a vintage wine (though not indicated as such) coming all from the 2013 harvest. Though the soil and location are more akin to Chablis than Champagne, the climatic conditions that favor Jerome's signature grape, Pinot Noir. Any extra grapes are sold to the legendary Jacques Selosse. This is a spellbinding, singular Champagne of huge impact. "Stunner" and "Profound" graced our tasting notes. It is ripe, with balanced red-tinged fruit balanced out by a sexy, smoky gunflint and saline mineral edge. There is an intense, waxy, weighty mouthfeel that is reminiscent of still whites from the Rhone. Pulsing with natural, vital energy and lifted by a chiseled, chalky verve that screams Champagne (or Chablis!). This is unique Champagne that would pair perfectly the richest preparation of scallops imaginable.

Amazing Rhone Blend from cultish Paso Producer. This is the lowest price in the country by $8! A $75 Reference Price per the glowing reviews.
93+ Wine Advocate
94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2015) "Inky ruby. Spicy, mineral-accented boysenberry, blackberry, incense and lavender on the nose, plus a subtle dusting of white pepper. Sappy and densely packed, offering appealingly sweet black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors and building spiciness. Finishes very long, with vibrant dark berry and spicecake notes and harmonious tannins that are quickly enveloped in the wine's opulent fruit."

Dancing Hares "Mad Hatter" Napa Valley Proprietary Red 2013

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $64.99!
94 Wine Advocate
(12/2015) "The 2013 Proprietary Red Mad Hatter, 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, is a big-time winner. It has a gorgeously deep ruby/purple color, a sweet kiss of licorice, blackcurrants, black cherries, camphor and incense. The wine is fragrant, with supple tannins, an opulent lushness and a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Drink it over the next 10-12 years."

Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2013

94 James Suckling
94 Wine Spectator
94 Wine Advocate
(2/2018) "I never have enough praise for the excellent work achieved at Uccelliera. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is another proud notch in Andrea Cortonesi's belt. This is a fine and elegant wine that wraps smoothly over the palate. It also has an immediate and accessible personality that means you don't need to wait too long to enjoy it. The wine is redolent of dark fruit, spice, balsam herb, licorice and pressed flowers. You get loads of variety character. Drink Date: 2020 - 2035."

Salvestrin "Salvestrin Estate Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

93 Wine Advocate
(12/2015) "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes from the estate vineyards and is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This showed well. It's a 2013, but the blend, which was aged 22 months in French, American and Hungarian oak, is lusty, savory, hedonistic, rich and mouth-filling, with a dense purple color and not a hard edge in sight. This blockbuster fruit bomb has complexity, richness and a savory intensity that has to be tasted to be believed. Kudos to the winery. Drink now through 2030+."
