Domaine Vincent Paris "La Geynale" Cornas 2013

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
91+ Wine Advocate
(11/18/2015) "As normal, the 2013 Cornas la Geynale is the most structured, tannic and age-worthy in the lineup. Coming from the Geynale and Reynard lieux-dits, and fermented with 100% whole clusters, it spent 18 months all in two- to eight-year-old barrels. Its inky purple, mostly opaque color gives way to masculine (classic Cornas!) notes of crushed rocks, charcoal, wood smoke and plums. Big, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and with plenty of tannin, it needs 2-4 years of cellaring and will drink well for a decade after that."

Bollinger "La Grande Annee" Brut Champagne 2007

94+ Wine Advocate
94 Wine Spectator

(3/15/2018) "I loved the 2007 La Grande Annee, which is based on 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Over 90% of this cuvee was sourced from Grand Cru sites, with the balance from Premier Cru villages. Vinified all in older barrels and aged 6 years in bottle on lees, it boasts a deep, rich, creamy style as well as full-bodied notes of ripe stone fruits, wood smoke, and spice. It has vibrant acidity, impressive length, and notable purity, all making for a classy, impressive Champagne that will keep for 10-15 years."

Henri Billiot Fils "Cuvee Laetitia" Brut Grand Cru Brut Champagne NV

94+ Our Score
(1/2018) This wonderfully unique and significant bottling hails entirely from the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims - known for its powerful fruit. Scarcely have we experienced as ripe and supple of a Champagne, the mindbender here being that the cuvee is composed primarily (70%) of wine from a perpetual reserve solera with vintages dating back to 1983. 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir. Ripeness is the key word in understanding this immediately delicious, but layered experience. Ripe green and red apples are highlighted by laser-like candied lemon, with a strong undercurrent of fine chalkiness all the while. There's a balance of length, power and finesse that goes beyond description. If there can be at once a connoisseur's Champagne that is at the same time a sumptuous, hedonist's Champagne (a category that is painfully fleeting), this is the one. Hard to resist but cellar for complexity, this is shockingly youthful and primary for a wine with so much reserve stock.

Pierre Gimonnet "Special Club" Brut 1er Cru 2012

93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(11/2018) "Interestingly, the 2012 Special Club is quite a bit riper and bigger than any of the three single-village Special Clubs. Light tropical overtones meld into a core of candied orange peel, apricot, chamomile and wild flowers. In this tasting, the 2012 comes across as adolescent and not fully put together. Hopefully that will come in time. Disgorged: July 20, 2017."

Dehu Pere & Fils "Cuvee La Rue des Noyers" Blanc de Noir Extra Brut NV

94+ Our Score
93+ Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2017) "Benoit Dehu NV (2014) Extra Brut Cuvee La Rue des Noyers Non-Dose is bright, powerful and tightly wound. A wine of energy and vibrancy, the 2014 is going to need at least a few years to be at its very best. Even so, its potential today is evident. The Meunier character is pronounced, but it is the wine's salivating minerality that gives shape, focus and cut. What a gorgeous wine this. Disgorged on August 4, 2017 with no dosage. Drink 2019 - 2026."

Henri Goutorbe "Special Club" Grand Cru Brut Champagne 2006

93 Our Score
(12/2017) Disgorged 9/2016. Sourced from the Grand Cru Village of Ay, along the Marne river in the heart of Champagne, Goutorbe is one of the most giving and forwardly delicious growers in the Terry Theise stable of small, family owned properties. This bottling, worthy of the "Special Club" classification, is based on Pinot Noir with smaller percentages of Chardonnay and Meunier. The flavors are malty, with light toast and giving red berry notes. Fresh, with lift, but ready to drink.

Veuve Clicquot "Gold Label" Brut Rose 2008

93 Wine Spectator
(11/30/2017) "A well-cut, minerally version, with a firm backbone of acidity and a lacy mousse, layered with flavors of baked currant, toast and lemon curd. Offers a racy, spiced finish. Disgorged January 2016. Drink now through 2028."

Brendan Stater-West "Les Chapaudaises" Saumur Blanc 2015

92 Our Score
(8/2017) Brendan Stater-West, an American teaching in Paris, fell in love with wine in the mid-2000s and decided to change gears. His passion for Chenin Blanc lead him to the cellars of Domaine Guiberteau in Saumur. Here, Romain Guiberteau taught him how to make beautiful Chenin and, eventually encouraged him to make his own wine. This is it! Preserved lemon, baked pear, chalk, cremini and thyme flavors lead a dense palate with a subtly searing finish. A very fine effort, worthy of a couple years in the cellar!

Chateau Saint Cosme Condrieu 2016

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(5/2018) "Light green-hued yellow. Powerful, mineral-accented orchard and pit fruits on the nose, joined by a suave floral nuance as the wine stretches out. Sappy, penetrating and seamless in texture, offering vibrant tangerine, Anjou pear and white peach flavors and a sneaky hint of tarragon. Shows excellent focus and nervy, mineral cut on the finish, which lingers with outstanding tenacity. Drinking Window: 2019 - 2023."

Bollinger Rose Champagne NV

93 Wine Spectator
93 James Suckling
93 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "Bollinger's NV Brut Rose is a beautiful pink Champagne composed of 62% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay and 14% Pinot Meunier. The wine gets its noble rose color from 6% of added red wine from vineyards in Verzenay and Ay. Bread rolls, a hint of mocha and very fine red fruit aromas on the beautifully pure, fresh and perfumed nose lead to a highly delicate and fruity palate with a silky texture and filigreed structure. This is an aromatic, perfectly balanced and intense Rose of great elegance and finesse. The finish is clear and fresh but also intense and highly stimulating in its subversive salinity. This is a great Rose, and although it can surely age, I would always miss the delicacy and perfume of its youth!"
