Poggerino "Bugialla" Chianti Classico Riserva 2015

96 Wine Spectator
(8/1/2018) "A mix of pure cherry and cigar humidor aromas lead off, with the cherry theme continuing, supported by rosemary, iron and tar flavors. Big, burly tannins line the finish and should carry this wine for another few decades. Best from 2023 through 2040. 900 cases made."

Patria "Oakville Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

96+ Wine Advocate
(10/29/2018) "The 2016 Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc aged 19 months in 90% new French oak, from a vineyard that sits between Dalla Valle and Ovid. It's very deep purple-black colored with a nose that rocks up with wonderfully open, expressive crème de cassis, blueberries and warm plums with hints of cigar box, tilled soil and menthol plus a touch of pencil shavings. Full-bodied and concentrated in the mouth, the palate features black fruits and earthy layers framed by big, ripe, rounded tannins and great freshness, finishing long. 475 cases produced. Drink 2021 - 2039."

Familia Nin-Ortiz "Nit de Nin" Priorat 2015

97 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "The Nit de Nin family has grown with the addition of a new vineyard. The wine produced since 2003 comes from Mas d'en Cacador-this was always named on the label, but it is now also specified in the wine name to distinguish between the new vineyard. The 2015 Nit de Nin Mas d'en Cacador comes from the vineyard mentioned in the name, a famous place in Porrera planted with old vines of Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Peluda and Carinena. It fermented in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in a similar vat for 18 months. It's heady and ripe, exuberant and very open, a hedonistic, round and lush wine. The palate reveals very fine tannins and great harmony. Drink Date 2018 - 2025."

Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Proprietary Blend 2015

97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
96 Wine Advocate
99 James Suckling
(8/29/2017) "I love the currant and rosemary character of this wine. Some sage, too. Complex aromas that draw you in. Full body, extremely tight and chewy with a long and intense finish. The tannins are fantastic - so polished. Focused and beautiful. Mineral undertone with ash and hot stone highlighting the dark fruits. It goes on for minutes. Needs three or four years to come together. But a serious red all the way."

Chateau Troplong Mondot St. Emillion 2012

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
94 James Suckling
96 Wine Advocate
(4/2015) "The 2012 is another truly great wine from Troplong Mondot. It's always sentimental to taste this wine, realizing that proprietress Christine Valette (the larger-than-life heart and soul behind this estate) has passed away. She was one of the bright, shining stars of Bordeaux. Nevertheless, her legacy is certainly well-established, and the quality of this wine is beyond reproach. Inky bluish purple, its great notes of cassis, blackberry, licorice are followed by a full-bodied, opulently textured wine with stunning concentration, purity and overall balance. It should drink well for 20-25 years and turn out to be one of the great superstars of 2012. Their 63-acre vineyard was cropped at 31 hectoliters per hectare, producing a final blend of 90% Merlot and 10 Cabernet Sauvignon that achieved 14.2% alcohol."

Chateau Pesquie "Cuvee Ascensio" Ventoux Rouge 2015

95+ Jeb Dunnuck
(10/19/2017) "Another new cuvee from this family estate is the 2015 Ventoux Cuvee Ascensio which is mostly Grenache brought up in concrete tanks. This inky colored beauty is a tour de force from the Ventoux and offers smoking good notes of blackberries, currants, smoked earth, lavender, and pepper. Deep, full-bodied and opulent, give bottles 2-4 years of cellaring and enjoy through 2028."

Robert Craig Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

95 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain comes from an elevation of nearly 2,300 feet, from a vineyard planted in red volcanic, rocky soils. Rich, full-bodied, and possibly the star of an impressive line-up of wines, this is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot. Strikingly rich, opaque purple in color, with mulberry, boysenberry, blackberry, graphite and flowers, the wine is rich, chewy, full-bodied, multi-layered, and just a sensational example of Howell Mountain. Sadly, most Napa Howell Mountain Cabernets of this quality sell for $200-plus, but this one is available for under $100, which is to the credit of the folks at Robert Craig. This is 25- to 30-year wine, although there's no harm in drinking it sooner."

Robert Craig Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2018) "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder) is seriously beautiful. A healthy dollop (24%) of Merlot gives the wine terrific mid-palate pliancy and fruit depth to play off of the more intensely mineral and soil-drive signatures, of which there are many. Raspberry jam, crushed rocks, blood orange, white pepper and red cherry jam infuse this deep, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from Robert Craig. I would give the 2015 at least a few years to settle down, as the tannins are imposing at this early stage. Drinking window: 2020 - 2035."

Stonestreet "Upper Barn" Alexander Valley Chardonnay 2014

96 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "From a site made famous by Helen Turley when she was buying its fruit, the 2014 Chardonnay Upper Barn is at an 1,800-foot elevation and spent 11 months in 52% new French oak. A killer Chardonnay (as it always has been), the wine offers up notes of wet gravel, citrus oil, apple blossom, orange marmalade, honeysuckle, and a hint of almond paste. Fabulous fruit on the attack, mid-palate and finish characterizes this dry, gorgeous, compelling Chardonnay that should age effortlessly for a decade or more."

Linne Calodo "Nemesis" Paso Robles Rhone Blend 2016

96 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(9/2018) "Youthful purple. Exotically perfumed aromas of black and blue fruit preserves, licorice candy, five-spice powder and cola, complicated by a suave floral oil nuance. Broad and deeply concentrated on the palate, offering sweet, mineral-tinged cassis and cherry compote flavors along with suggestions of candied violet and cola. Stains the palate and shows superb power and spicy lift on an extremely long, youthfully tannic finish that emphatically repeats the spice and floral notes."

Matthieu Barret "Billes Noires" Cornas 2012

96 Wine Advocate
(12/29/2014) "Coming from the upper part of Cornas and seeing 24 months in 400-500 Liter barrels (none new), the 2012 Cornas Domaine du Coulet Billes Noires is an incredible effort that's up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Its inky purple color is followed by an awesome bouquet of cassis, bacon fat, olive, peppered meat and iron, with additional minerality coming through with air. Classic in every way, with full-bodied richness, stunning purity and integrated acidity, it's a big, brooding and concentrated effort that's reasonably approachable now due to its fruit and texture, yet won't hit prime time until 6-7 years after the vintage and will have two decades of longevity."

A blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah, it offers up stunning aromas of crushed stones, tea roses, black cherries and licorice. A powerhouse, loaded with extract, it finishes long and intense, picking up hints of chocolate and star anise. It appears capable of evolving for a couple of stunning decades."

It offers notes of black cherries, red currants, dried flowers and dried soil/sandy notes, full-bodied richness and a seamless, silky, lightly textured and elegant style. It's impeccably balanced and while already straight up delicious, is going to age gracefully. Drink Date: 2017 - 2029."

It opens with classic aromas of perfumed berry, leather, forest floor, tobacco and a balsamic note while the impeccable palate delivers wild cherry, crushed raspberry, strawberry, chopped herb, white pepper and licorice. From the owners of Chateau Ausone!
95+ Wine Advocate

Composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 85% new, the 2015 La Clotte displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color and a very spicy nose of cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise and allspice over core of red and black currants, mulberries and black soil plus a waft of violets. Full-bodied and decadently fruited with a firm backbone of very ripe, beautifully velvety tannins, it has a lively backbone providing loads of lift throughout the very long finish. Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Chardonnay 2016

This is about as good as Chardonnay gets. If you are a true Chardonnay lover, don't hesitate. This one is worth every penny
94 Wine Spectator
96 Jeb Dunnuck
95 Wine Advocate
95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2018) "Pahlmeyer's 2016 Chardonnay (Napa Valley) is bright, precise and nuanced, even though it underwent full malolactic fermentation and was aged in 100% new heavy toast Francois Freres barrels. Apricot, honey, dried flowers and lightly buttery notes get a kick of energy from the freshness of vintage and the personality of the mountain sites (Estate and Antica) that inform this bottling, Winemaker Bibiana Gonzalez-Rave has brought an added level of finesse to the Pahlmeyer Chardonnay. Drink 2018-2028."

Schiopetto "M" Collio Friulano 2016

For the second vintage in a row, James Suckling named this to his definitive list of the "Top 100" wines of the year - out of more than 17,000 wines tasted. What's more amazing, the 2015 and 2016 were the first two vintages produced of this wine!
98 James Suckling
(10/20/2017) "This is extremely smoky on the nose with flint and gunpowder. Dried apple, lemon and pear character. Full body, dense and powerful. Yet always lively and dancing in the palate. Crazy finish. One of Italy's top whites. Made from vines planted in 1954. Drink now."

Booker Vineyards "My Favorite Neighbor" Paso Robles Cabernet Blend 2016

96 Wine Advocate
97 Jeb Dunnuck
(11/30/2018) "The 2016 My Favorite Neighbor is made with the intent of competing with cult Napa Cabernet Sauvignon yet at a more maintainable $80 price point. Coming all from westside Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly on clay soils, and brought up all in French oak, I'm thrilled to say that it succeeds beautifully. This deep purple-colored beauty offers an incredible perfume of crème de cassis, blackberries, graphite, lead pencil, and ample crushed rock-like minerality. Showing more nuance and floral characteristics with time in the glass as well as full body, sweet tannins, and no hard edges, it's a sensationally rich and seamless Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles to drink over the coming decade."
