Soter Vineyards "Mineral Springs Ranch" Yamhill-Carlton District Pinot Noir 2015

98 James Suckling
(11/1/2017) "Tons of pressed violets and lavender as well as blueberries, plenty of herbs, cedar, almonds and acacia come through on the nose, before ginseng, ivy and slate kick in. The palate is so structured with intense yet velvety tannins and layers of fruit and spices. Such tension in terms of the fine acidity but intensely full-bodied. A great wine that will age for decades. Drink from 2020 and well beyond."

94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(6/2017) "The 2015 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard is a racy, voluptuous wine. Unapologetically flamboyant, it exudes depth and pedigree. Dark red/purplish fruit, wild flowers, mint, lavender and sweet French oak flesh out in this creamy, super-expressive Pinot. This is another superb wine from Peake Ranch. Drinking window: 2018 - 2025."

92 Wine Advocate
93 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(7/2015) "(The vineyard is on a hillside bench overlooking the Columbia River, in the Horse Heaven Hills appellation): Dark ruby. High-pitched aromas of cassis, blackberry and violet. Dense, sweet and juicy, offering lovely depth and purity to its classic Cabernet flavors of cassis, redcurrant, bitter chocolate, violet and licorice complicated by a rooty element. Conveys an impression of intensity without excess weight. This wonderfully lush yet firm wine finishes with terrific breadth and sweet, serious tannins. Drinking window: 2017 - 2025."

Frog's Leap Rutherford Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

92+ Our Score
(2/2018) Frog's Leap consistently hits it out of the park with this organically-farmed, estate-grown Cabernet. With their 2015 edition, John Williams and his team have crafted an honest Cabernet that can be enjoyed equally well tonight or a decade from now. Already approachable, this well-balanced 13.8% ABV wine is begging to strut its stuff. After allowing it to unfurl in the glass for 20 minutes (while we appreciated its beautiful deep ruby color and clarity!) we were deeply impressed by the come-hither aromas on display. Black cherry, cassis, cedar and even violets are all there, along with well-integrated vanilla and mocha from 20 months maturation in barrel completing the package. On the palate, the fruit profile trends a bit darker. The finish is long and linear, with good cleansing acidity. Go with a case purchase and challenge yourself to make it to year 10 with a few bottles left. A very worldly Cabernet here.

Patricia Green Cellars "Freedom Hill-Dijon Clone 115" Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2015

94 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
94 Our Score
(1/2018) Like the regular Freedom Hill Pinot, this bottling is sourced from one of the greatest vineyards in all of Oregon. Unlike that wine, this offering is made exclusively from a specific clone of Pinot Noir, known as Dijon 115, named after its Burgundy homeland. Explosive flavors of wild black cherry, wild strawberry, clay and red rock earth are layered with nuanced sweet wood spice and a very long, very impressive structure featuring medium-plus tannins and medium-plus acidity. This wine is so subtly beautiful and so young that if you popped it open and drank without allowing it to breathe, you'd miss most of what is waiting for you. Give this several hours in a decanter or several years in your cellar. It is such a special bottle, we'd hate to see you miss out on all the nuanced flavors hiding inside!

Peake Ranch Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2015

94 Jeb Dunnuck
(8/2/2017) "The first vintage for this cuvee it was created with the idea to improve the quality of the single vineyard. The 2015 Chardonnay Santa Maria Valley is a stunning value that offers classic buttered stone fruits, toasted nuts and honeysuckle in a rich, texture, balanced style. It way over delivers at the price and is a terrific wine. It's one of the larger production releases as well (536 cases), so hopefully you can find a few bottles."

Catena "Alta" Mendoza Malbec 2014

Wine Advocate quotes a price of $60. Median online retail is $47. We offer it for quite a bit less. A mountain-grown red of this quality, power, complexity and beauty is quite a rare to find at this price!
95 James Suckling
93 Wine Advocate
(12/30/2016) "The blend of the 2014 Catena Alta Malbec changed to adapt to a slightly warmer vintage, and even if the source is the same, Angelica (Lunlunta), La Piramide (Agrelo), Nicasia (Altamira) and Adrianna (Gualtallary), the percentage of grapes from Gualtallary is higher in 2014. They also harvested earlier and the result is a wine with half a degree less alcohol than in the cool 2013 vintage and with slightly higher acidity. The results are magnificent, even if the wine is still very young and lightly marked by the élevage, the texture and the electric acidity provide a superb mouthfeel and surely a long life in bottle. 60,000 bottles produced."

92 Wine Advocate
(10/30/2014) "While the reds from this estate are well known, their 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc is also superb. Made from Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Bourboulenc and brought up in 75% stainless steel and 25% in barrels, it's a full-bodied, ripe, layered and voluptuously textured beauty that offers ample buttered citrus, peach and a distinct, saltiness that comes out with air. 93+ Our Score
(2/2018) Offering an amazing combination of flavor and structure, this bottling from siblings Dino, Diana and Gianni Bertolino is as good as Barbera gets. The aromas and flavors are incredibly pure, bright and dense, revealing layer after complex layer, including red fruit, fresh ground espresso, smoke, olive and a hint of barnyard. The taut acidity is perfectly woven into the gritty red earth finish, which seems to go on forever. So delicious now, and will be become even more beautiful over the next 5+ years.

Louis Martini Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

93-95 Wine Advocate
(10/28/2016) "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley spends 18 months in a combination of 30% new and 70% used French and American barrels. It is another big boy at 15.4% natural alcohol. This wine, which was not yet in bottle, is fabulous, and there are 42,000 cases of it. One of the strongest efforts yet from the Martinis, this cuvée still sells at a modest $38.00 - a fair price for something this compelling. The wine has an opaque purple color, a beautiful nose of blueberries, blackcurrants, licorice, camphor and graphite. The wine is full-bodied and multilayered on the palate with sensational richness and length. It should drink well for 20-25 years."

(2/2018) The 2015 Northern Rhone Valley vintage is spectacular. A handful of growers we've spoken with call it the best they've ever experienced! This negociant offering from Monsieur Chave certainly lives up to the hype, delivering deliciously deep, dense and accessible flavors of black fruit, gun smoke, olive and pepper - all classic marks of Northern Rhone Syrah. Nicely concentrated and beautifully balanced, this outstanding wine may be the best Offerus yet.

Tenuta di Valgiano "Palistorti" Colline Lucchesi Rosso 2015

Latest release of the biodynamically farmed Super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah!
91 Our Score
(2/2018) After a challenging and very wet 2014, where Tenuta di Valgiano did not even produce this wine, "Palistorti" is back with the excellent 2015 vintage and it is delicious! Produced in the hills of Lucca in northern Tuscany, this gorgeous Super Tuscan is a blend of roughly 70% Sangiovese along with Merlot and Syrah from certified biodynamic vineyards. The 2015 vintage turned out a fruit forward expression filled with life, energy and character that makes it easy to drink on its own. The tannins are refined and integrated while the oak flavors quietly hang out behind the scenes. The lively, mouthwatering acidity gives the wine its exquisite balance that leads to a long, pleasurable finish. In a sea of Super Tuscan red blends, Valgiano di Palistorti stands out on its own!

Frog's Leap Rutherford Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2016

92 Wine & Spirits
(10/2017) "Richer and more unctuous than most recent releases of sauvignon from Frog's Leap, this wine still holds its freshness over the course of several days. John Williams and his team farm organically, without irrigation, which resulted in a particularly concentrated wine in 2016. Its flavors transform from lime and beeswax toward passion fruit, with hints of toast from long aging on the lees. Clean and lasting, the flavor and texture would complement roast arctic char or other rich fish."

Chateau Floridene Graves 2015

90-92 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2016) "The 2015 Clos Floridene offers up luscious redcurrant, wild strawberry and floral scents on the nose, almost Burgundy-like in terms of purity. The palate is well balanced with fine but firm tannin, a little pinched at the moment, but by the time of bottling it will have undone its top-shirt button. Plenty of energy here, a Graves with a nod to Volnay, bound to offer 8-10 years of pleasure. Drink Date 2018 - 2028."

La Boutanche Vin de France Cinsault 2016 1.0 LT

89 Our Score
(6/2017) Martin Texier is now firmly at the helm of the Rhone La Boutanche line and he is crafting some very tasty wines! The fruit is sourced from the St. Julien-St Alban region, that his father Eric famously revived, and comes from meticulously farmed vineyards. Martin is using a technique he calls "infusion", where he is essentially making a red wine in the manner typically used for whites. The end result is a delicately structured red with very fine tannins and dizzying aromatics. The nose is just simply gorgeous. Don't forget to add a slight chill.

(1/2018) From Breganze's quality-minded Fausto Maculan comes this tasty Merlot/Cab blend which will have you substituting your Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois for half the price! Think of it as an entry-level Super-Vicenza. A powerful herbal note highlights a pretty black cherry nose. The palate carries over with spicy dark cherry and plum, picking up smoky charcoal with air. Dark fruits. Lush, depth. Rocky earth. Great value!

(8/31/2017) "The 2015 Tinto Vale do Bomfim Dow is a blend of 40% Touriga Franca and 25% Touriga Nacional, with 35% of the grapes from an old-vine field blend. It is aged mostly in used French oak (85%) for 14 months. It comes in at 13.9% alcohol. Of the Symington entry-level wines this issue, this would be my personal pick and it is a nice value. It shows the fine flavor of the 2015 Altano regular but with better structure and an even fresher, brighter feel. This doesn't have a lot of power or depth-not what you're looking for at this price level-but it is lovely this year and it will drink well. It is the only one at this level that might actually reward you for cellaring it for a year but it is ready to drink and it will do best when young. This is bottled in batches. (9/2017) "The aromas in this wine are bright, with notes of herb, tire rubber and red currant, with the oak influence dialed back. The fruit flavors are lighter styled, direct and pure, going down easy with blue-fruit flavors on the finish. It's a pleasant easy drinker."

Bodegas Castano Yecla Monastrell 2016

90 Wine Advocate
(12/29/2017) "I hadn't encountered their entry-level, young and unoaked Monastrell for a while, but I tasted the 2016 Monastrell, which fermented in stainless steel and was kept in concrete vats for four to six months. They used some 25% to 30% full clusters in the vinification, and I've never smelled anything like this from Castaño. This is floral and fresh, elegant and balanced, with moderate extraction, ripe tannins and a very pleasant mouthfeel with clean, focused flavors. This is almost too serious for the price. Wow! In the future, they might do some full clusters; I tasted an experimental lot with 100% full clusters in 2016, and the wine was amazing. 250,000 bottles produced; there are three 80,000-bottle lots as similar as possible, but all the bottles destined for the U.S. market are from the same lot. Drink Date 2018 - 2020."

(2/1/2018) "This wine has a throwback label celebrating Chateau Ste Michelle's 50th anniversary. Upfront aromas of clarified butter, peach and spice are followed by medium-bodied stone fruit flavors. It's a varietal crowd-pleaser. Best Buy."
