Robert Craig Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2018) "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder) is seriously beautiful. A healthy dollop (24%) of Merlot gives the wine terrific mid-palate pliancy and fruit depth to play off of the more intensely mineral and soil-drive signatures, of which there are many. Raspberry jam, crushed rocks, blood orange, white pepper and red cherry jam infuse this deep, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from Robert Craig. I would give the 2015 at least a few years to settle down, as the tannins are imposing at this early stage. Drinking window: 2020 - 2035."

Herman Story Wines "Nuts & Bolts" California Syrah 2016

95 Jeb Dunnuck
(11/29/2018) "Moving to the 2016s and a wine that always delivers, the 2016 Nuts & Bolts has lots of White Hawk character in its white pepper, cedar, underbrush and black and blue fruits. Made from 100% Syrah aged in 80% new wood, this beauty is concentrated, full-bodied, and silky, with no hard edges. Drink it over the coming 5-7 years. Maturity: 2018 - 2025."

(6/29/2018) "The 2015 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a success this year, revealing aromas of ripe plums, cassis, pencil shavings and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, rich and generous, with an ample core of fruit, juicy acids and a flavorful finish. It's a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc."

Stolpman Ballard Canyon Estate Grown Syrah 2016

93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
92 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "Stolpman's largest cuvée, amounting to some 4,400 cases, is the keenly priced 2016 Syrah Estate, which reveals a classic nose of blackberry, violets, rose petal, cracked pepper and grilled meat. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, expansive and juicy with an ample core of sweet fruit and good length and persistence. Some chalky tannins assert themselves on the finish, but it's already drinking well. Drink Date 2018 - 2026."

Broc Cellars "Love Red" North Coast 2017

Welcome to the future of red blends!
90 Our Score
(1/2019) The low-alcohol, low-intervention "natural" style of wine has been on the outskirts of the wine world for some time. Wines like this one from Chris Brockway will fuel the growth of the movement. Offering fun, vibrant flavors of mixedberries, plum, dried lavender and pan fond, this is a tremendously well-crafted wine - made without any acid adjustments, a minimal sulfur addition, and checking in at an exceptionally drinkable 12.5% alcohol. A blend of 50% Carignan, 36% Valdiguie, 8% Syrah and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, it was sourced from 70 year old vines across two vineyard sites in the Solano County/ Green Valley AVA. Natural wine done right, for a fabulous price.

The Fableist "774" Central Coast Pinot Noir 2017

90 Our Score
(1/2019) A collaboration between Curt Schalchlin and Andrew Jones, this is as pretty and perfumed an example of Central Coast Pinot as we can remember! Juicy raspberry and peach flesh flavors are lifted with lemon zest and made exotic with more than a touch of rose petal. Exceptionally soft and offering plenty of flavor, it improves with air and will be quite nice partnered with barbecued pork cheeks and a wide range of dishes. A playful Pinot done right.
