Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils "Cuvee Tradition" Chateauneuf du Pape 2016

93 James Suckling

93 Jeb Dunnuck
(8/28/2018) "The classic 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape checks in at around 75% Grenache, 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre, and a splash of Cinsault. This rock star traditional cuvee gives up loads of black licorice, garrigue, black raspberries, and kirsch liqueur. It's powerful and full-bodied, yet elegant and seamless, with fine tannin, no hard edges, and a great finish. Despite the richness and weight, it stays weightless and elegant, with silky tannin. Don't miss it."

Philippe Glavier "La Grace d'Alphael" Grand Cru Brut Champagne NV

92+ Our Score
(11/2018) A hand-crafted Grand Cru Champagne for under $40? Yep! Philippe Glavier was recently added to the Terry Theise portfolio of grower-produced Champagne, and our buying team was able to snap up a supply from the previous importer for a very special price. This 100% Chardonnay is supple and crisp, with a low dosage of 5g/L and beautiful purity. A properly ripe but focused Blanc de Blancs, it is radiant with lemon, caramel and chalky highlights. An outstanding food wine, and graceful enough to impress as an aperitif

Brotte "Les Hauts de Barville" Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2016

(9/1/2017) "A tinge of copper to this white's hue suggests a bit of skin contact, and there's a decided textural element and tannic grip on the palate as well. Pear and melon flavors finish refreshing and mouthwatering in spite of the wine's richness. Drink now."

Domaine Robert Denogent Macon Villages 2014

92 Our Score
(1/2019) One of the most respected producers in the Maconnais, and in all of southern Burgundy for that matter, is Domaine Robert Denogent. Run by fourth generation vigneron Nicolas Robert, the single-site Chardonnays of this estate are often compared to great Meursaults and Puligny-Montrachets, and rightly so. This bottling is their entry level wine, and it is a fantastic value at our discounted price. Offering minerality, chalky tension and flavors of ripe pear, honeyed citrus and toasted almond, this four-year old Chardonnay is drinking beautifully, especially with roast chicken!

Domaine Roger Neveu "Cote des Embouffants" Sancerre 2017

91 Our Score
(1/2019) Embouffants is an extremely steep, south-facing, limestone vineyard that the Neveu brothers and their sons sustainably farm. Imported by Kermit Lynch, this attractive Sauvignon Blanc is highly expressive on the nose, giving citrus and tropical fruit notes along with salty white stone minerality. Initially tight on the palate, the wine quickly opens and expands with air. A delicious Sancerre from a small estate that we've admired for years.

Charles Baur Cremant d'Alsace NV

93 Wine Enthusiast
(11/1/2018) "A cool backdrop of stone and yeast informs the fresh nose. The palate comes in with ripe red apple fruit, again supported by that lovely, sonorous and unifying tone of autolysis that here is reminiscent of baked apple tart. This is full of fruit and carried by very fine, creamy mousse. A very understated, elegant and lovely Cremant of real staying power. Lovely. Drink 2018-2025."

Domaine Meyer-Fonne "Gentil" Vin d'Alsace 2016

(4/1/2018) "Rose petals and ripe, yellow Mirabelle plums create an inviting, appetizing nose. The palate is light, fruity and fresh, with just a dash of gentle, fruit-enhancing sweetness. This is a gentle, easy but aromatic wine, with an off-dry finish."

Domaine Paul Autard Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2016

90 Our Score
(10/2018) The string of can't-miss 2016 Southern Rhone reds continues with this impressive blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, all from certified organic vineyards. The wine is full and rich, with noticeable balanced tannins and a lively acid structure - one of the defining characters of the now legendary 2016 harvest. Look for flavors of red and black fruits, pepper, red earth and a hint of smoke. Delicious, and a serious buy at the price!

Chateau Ollieux Romanis "Prestige Cuvee" Corbieres Boutenac 2015

90+ Our Score
90-92 Wine Advocate
(4/28/2017) "The 2015 Corbières-Boutenac Prestige offers notes of Christmas spice, violets, blackcurrants and blackberries in its rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely textured personality. Made from 40% Carignan, 25% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and the balance Syrah, aged mostly in once and twice used barrels, it should be a no brainer purchase for readers."

Domaine Lafage "Cote Est" Grenache Blanc/Chardonnay/Roussanne 2017

90 Jeb Dunnuck
(2/21/2018) "Spice, citrus, white flowers and some seaside saltiness all emerge from the 2017 Cote d'Est, a deliciously fresh, clean, balanced white that represents a smoking value. This beauty has texture, freshness, and length. The blend is 50% Grenache Blanc, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Roussanne all aged 4 months in tank on the lees, and it's ideal for drinking over the coming year. This cuvee is a joint venture with Eric Solomon and comes from east-facing vineyards planted on gentle slopes close to the Mediterranean, just a few kilometers inland from the sea near Canet-en-Roussillon. Maturity 2018 - 2019."
