G. D. Vajra Langhe Rosso 2017

90 Our Score
(4/2019) With this 2017 Langhe Rosso, Vajra captures the beauty of Piedmont in a playful and energetic wine that is both fruity and complex. A field blend of Barbera, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and a handful of other Piedmontese grapes, it sings of fresh cherries, strawberry and raspberry with beautiful red floral tones and an enticing underlying earthiness that presents the wine's "old world" origin. This outstanding light colored red should be served with a slight chill and enjoyed with pizza, light pasta dishes, hors d'oeuvres or all on its own.

Xavier Vignon "Vieilles Vignes" Cotes du Rhone 2016

92+ Jeb Dunnuck
(2/15/2018) "The older vine cuvee of the estate is the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes and it is primarily Grenache blended with 15% each of Mourvedre and Syrah. In this case, the Mourvedre vines are 60 years in age and the Grenache vines are 45 years in age. Aged 12 months in 80% concrete tanks and 20% in barrel, its vibrant purple color gives way to a concentrated, medium to full-bodied 2016 that's much more reserved and tight compared to the other Cotes du Rhone releases, yet offers beautiful purity in its blueberry and blackberry fruit, as well as subtle notes of violets, charcoal, and pepper. With integrated acidity and fine, polished tannin, this is a serious Cotes du Rhone that's going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and keep for a decade. Drinking window: 2018 - 2030."

Prats & Symington "Prazo de Roriz" Douro 2016

90 Our Score
(6/2019) A partnership between iconic wine personality Bruno Prats, former owner of Chateau Cos d'Estournel, and the Symington family, owner of Dow, Graham and Cockburn. This latest vintage of this dry "Prazo" bottling includes many of the same grapes used to make Port, including Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Amarela. Offering concentrated flavors, this smart buy is impressively nuanced, with both black and red fruit tones, freshly turned earth and red lily flowers. Fresh in style, with classic front-of-mouth Douro chewiness. Yum!

(10/29/2018) "Blended of 90.3% Sauvignon Blanc and 9.7% Semillon, the 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Alexander Valley is scented of ripe peaches, green apples and passion fruit with hints of dried herbs and struck flint. Medium-bodied with a racy line cutting through the intense tropical flavors, it finishes on a mineral note. Drink Date 2018 - 2020."

90 Wine Enthusiast
(5/1/2018) "Ruby in the glass, the nose offers aromas of black plum, blackberry, brown spices and a whiff of cotton candy. On the palate, there are flavors of black cherry, dried plum and blackberry. The tannins are smooth and the persistent finish has a touch of black pepper spice. #18 on Top 100 Best Buys of 2018"

Matic Stajerska Skin-Contact Pinot Gris 2018

89+ Our Score
(7/2019) Working in a cellar built in 1852, Matija Zerjav tends to his 8.5 hectares using organic farming, along with selected biodynamic techniques. Immensely approachable, this light-pink hued wine is a great example of a well-crafted skin contact white. Cherry blossom, white cherry, melon, quince and almond are among the cornucopia of likeable flavors. What sticks out even more is the mouthfeel, marked by a prickle of tannin that makes this a very dynamic food wine. It's as good a match with skirt steak tacos as it is with snapper. A wonderful choice as the temperature rises into the 90 degree range!

Casa Castillo Jumilla Monastrell 2016

For the umpteenth vintage in a row, Casa Castillo delivers a juicy, forward, massively enjoyable red for just ten bucks a bottle!
91+ Wine Advocate
(12/29/2017) "The first wine in the range is the 2016 Monastrell, which in reality contains some 8% combination of Garnacha and Syrah, cropped from a more continental, cooler and dry vintage. Like all the wines from the property, it fermented with indigenous yeasts, in this case with grapes from different plots, and matured in used oak barrels for eight to nine months. Juicy, primary, incredibly fresh and with a vertical palate, longer than wider, like a hypothetical blend of 2013 and 2015, cool but dry. This is always a great value, even more so in 2016. Drink Date 2018 - 2021."

Bodegas Breca Vino de Espana Rose 2018

88 Our Score
90 Wine Spectator
(6/15/2019) "This deceptively pale-colored rose is quite rich, aromatic and dense. Berry, watermelon, spice and vanilla flavors mingle in a plush texture, with just enough acidity to stay focused. Drink now."
