Bedrock Wine Co. "The Bedrock Heritage" Sonoma Valley Red Blend 2017

95 Wine Spectator
(3/31/2019) "Brooding but not a bruiser. Finesse combines with power, offering fervent blackberry, fruitcake spice, ground pepper and orange zest accents that build intensity toward big but polished tannins. Zinfandel, Carignan, Mataro, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2026. 750 cases made."

Clos du Mont-Olivet Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2017

92 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
92 Wine Spectator
92 Wine Advocate
(8/31/2018) "The richly tropical and full-bodied 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc incorporates seven different grape varieties, although 70% of the blend is Clairette and Roussanne. Honeyed pineapple spreads over the palate, then coalesces and sharpens into citrus zest on the long, crisp finish. Drink Date 2018 - 2025."

BLANKbottle "Don't Look Back" Swartland Clairette 2017

BLANKBottle is the label of South African winemaker Pieter Wasler. Rather than focusing on a few varietals or a particular style, most of Pieter's wines are one-off projects, sometimes rather obscure, always very well made. This wine is named as an ode to Pieter's former assistant, Julia, who not long ago left for France. The image on the label is of Julia looking over her shoulder and Pieter's message to go forward and "don't look back".
91 Our Score
(3/2019) Made from very old bush vine Clairette from Swartland, the wine is quite finessed, unique and delicious. Hip and decidedly natural, the wine is fresh, inviting and bursting with layers of apple blossom, lemon zest, subtle crunchy pear and waves of minerality. This unusual white is great to drink on its own or with your favorite seafood.

Boen Sonoma/Monterey/Santa Barbara Pinot Noir 2017

Many of you know the story of Joe Wagner's sale of the Meiomi brand to Constellation in the summer of 2015. The big news this year is that Wagner is back in the Tri-County Pinot Noir business! With this new Boen bottling, he puts his skills - and likely some of the same vineyard contracts that used to go into Meiomi - to good use. There are rich, generous, yummy flavors of black cherry, raspberry coulis, black plum skins, smoke, mocha, thyme and spice. The finish is even and clean. If you were a fan of Meiomi when it was in its prime, you'll love this one!

Wimmer-Czerny "Fumberg" Gruner Veltliner 2017

93 Wine Advocate
(12/28/2018) "Hans Czerny's 2017 Grüner Veltliner Fumberg is a picture book "GV" from the Wagram. The subtle bouquet is bright, fine and fresh but also ripe and just beautifully balanced, with a very delicate and fresh, even flinty-scented aroma. Highly delicate and elegant on the palate, this is a stimulating, piquant and salty Veltliner with both tension and finesse. It is also stimulatingly pure and salty in the finish. For many, many years this has been one of my favorite Grooners in all Austria because it is so delicate, like almost no other wine from this variety. If you are looking for the finest Veltliners of the 2017 vintage, Czerny's highly delicious, biodynamic 2017 Fumberg should be one of your choices. Tasted in Vienna, September 2018. Drink Date 2018 - 2033."

La Posta "Estela Armando" Mendoza Bonarda 2017

90 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
(7/2018) "Dark red-ruby. Inviting high-pitched aromas of blackberry, dark raspberry, bitter chocolate and violet. Densely packed, fine-grained and sweet; a fresh, firm fruit bomb of a Bonarda with just a bit of the variety's leathery funk leavened by a violet topnote. From vines that are more than 80 years of age. Finishes with sneaky rising length and firm, smooth tannins. A stunning value."

Matchbook "Old Head" Dunnigan Hills Chardonnay 2017

89 Our Score
90 Wine Enthusiast
(3/1/2019) "This medium-bodied wine is subtle on the nose, but opens up on the palate to rich fruit and spice flavors that coat the tongue. It is balanced toward the soft side, but with underling acidity to balance the richness."

Cape Point Vineyards "Noordhoek" Cape Town Sauvignon Blanc 2017

91 Vinous, Neal Martin
(8/2018) "The 2017 Noordhoek Sauvignon Blanc, from the Cape Point estate, carries the new name for what was hitherto Cape Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc. As such, it has the "Cape Town" Wine of Origin designation. This comes from selected parcels on the estate, blended with 3% Semillon, and saw eight months lees contact. The bright, vivid bouquet features fresh green apple, kiwi fruit and Conference pear aromas that are well defined. The palate is well balanced with bright fresh green apple, pear, gooseberry and light citric notes, a fine bead of acidity and good length on the finish. Very fine. Drink now and over the next five or six years. Drinking Window: 2018 - 2026."
