Betz "Pere de Famille" Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

97 Wine Advocate
(6/30/2017) "A cellar selection from different sites in the Columbia Valley, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Pere de Famille is deeper in color than the Clos de Betz and offers fabulous notes of crème de cassis, graphite, crushed flowers and violets. Just screaming Cabernet, it offers full-bodied richness, incredible purity of fruit, and ultra-fine tannin, all of which make for a sensational Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon that's going to evolve for upwards of two decades."

Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino 2013

95 Our Score
96 Vinous, Ian D'Agata
94 Wine Spectator
97 Wine Enthusiast
(5/1/2018) "Delicately scented, this offers underbrush, pressed violet and wild berry aromas. It's medium-bodied and loaded with elegance, delivering crushed raspberry, Morello cherry, licorice and a hint of pipe tobacco set against taut, refined tannins. Bright acidity provides balance. It's a bit austere at this stage but will develop beautifully. Drink 2023-2043. Editors' Choice."

Betz Family Winery "La Serenne" Yakima Valley Syrah 2016

This is real-deal Syrah! Only a few cases available.
96 Jeb Dunnuck
95 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "The 2016 Syrah la Serenne hails from two acres within the Boushey Vineyard and was fermented with between 66% and 100% whole clusters. The wine is already very complex, wafting from the glass with notes of grilled meat, dried lavender, pepper and candied peel. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and lavish, with a layered mid-palate, fine-grained structuring tannins, sappy acids and a sapid, saline finish. Drink Date 2018 - 2035." (Washington)

Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Old school tannin + Modern concentration = Classic goodness from Montelena.
92 Jeb Dunnuck
92 Our Score
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(3/2018) "Montelena's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeous. Pliant and supple, the 2015 offers notable density and raciness in an up-front style that will drink well upon release. Succulent red/purplish fruit, spice, new leather and licorice are front and center. A wine of total allure, the 2015 hits all the right spots. Best of all, at $62 a bottle it is one of the best values readers will find in Napa Valley Cabernet. Don't miss it. Drinking Window: 2020 - 2030."

Domaine Poulleau Pere & Fils Volnay 2016

93 Our Score
(10/2018) We visited Domaine Poulleau in late winter 2018 and can firmly state it is one of the smallest cellars we've ever been in! Both husband and wife, Thierry and Florence Poulleau, have full-time jobs. They work in their vineyards early in the morning and on weekends. Based in Volnay, they produce wonderful "hands-off" styled wines, with very little new oak. This delicious 2016 Volnay comes from seven different parcels. It will be best after 2020, but drinkers now will note deep red floral notes, dense black cherry and wild ripe strawberry tones, lifted acidity and a long, earthy finish. An excellent Burgundy at a very fair price.

Franco Molino "Rocche dell'Annunziata" Riserva Barolo 2012

93 Our Score
(10/2018) A delicious single-site Barolo Riserva for less than 40 bucks? Wow! The wines from this small grower are directly imported to Chicago, a model that keeps pricing lower than their contemporaries. With a hint of new wood, the flavors of dried red fruit, mushroom, and savory tea are well integrated. This is a powerful wine with a warm back palate and a chewy front. In a world of $100 Baroli, this seems almost too inexpensive! Drinkable now and through 2030.

Isole e Olena "Collezione Privata" Toscana Chardonnay 2015

93+ Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "This white wine hits all the high notes with impeccable precision. The 2015 Chardonnay Collezione Privata shows two sides to the bouquet. On one hand you get generous fruit tones of apricot and preserved lemon with the opulent fullness that characterizes this excellent vintage. On the other hand, you get delicate notes of flint and brimstone that give the wine a linear sense of backbone and persistence. The mouthfeel is driven by freshness, medium build and a very long finish. This is a terrific Chardonnay from Tuscany. Drink Date: 2017 - 2026."

Chateau Siran Margaux 2015

A sweet-spot Margaux from Bordeaux's wonderful 2015 vintage!
94 James Suckling
92 Wine Spectator
93 Wine Enthusiast
(2/1/2018) "Soft, ripe and juicy, this is an immediately attractive wine. Its tannins are already well integrated into the black-currant fruits and rich berry flavors. The wine will mature relatively quickly and should be ready to drink from 2021."

Chateau Rieussec Sauternes 2015

In what must be a first for the wine world, James Suckling leads off his 99-point review for the 2015 Chateau Rieussec by proclaiming "OMG." If you enjoy having a dessert wine once in a while, this is one you should not miss. Drink now or hold for decades. A very special wine.

99 James Suckling
(2/5/2018) "OMG. This is amazing. This is the new 2001. Incredible purity of botrytis and ripeness. Full-on. So driven and precise. Full-bodied, very sweet and electrified. Pineapple jam and mangoes - endless tropical fruits. This ends very clean and is almost tannic on the finish. A truly great Sauternes. Energy. Drink or hold."

A Tribute to Grace "19-19 Chicago Edition" Cucamonga Valley Grenache 2017

To commemorate this 25-case Chicago exclusive, winemaker Angela Osborne added the four six-pointed red stars of the Chicago flag to the upper-left corner of the label. We were lucky enough to get our hands on just over a handful of cases. This is one Vin Chicago feature you don't want to miss!
91+ Our Score
(10/2018) The wine, labeled Nineteen-Nineteen, comes from the oldest Grenache vines in the country, planted in the year 1919. Angela has turned out a beautifully expressive Grenache from these prized vines, with characteristics of both a traditional Chateauneuf-du-Pape and a soft, silky Pinot Noir. Soaring aromas and complex flavors of strawberries, wildflowers, dried herbs, torched orange peel and peppery spice notes will captivate the lucky taster. Enjoy now or, even better, lay this collector's item in your cellar for a few more years. (California)
