95 Wine Spectator
94 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(7/2016) "The 2005 Barbera d'Alba Riserva Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata from magnum is fabulous. Rich, voluptuous and exquisitely layered, the 2005 hits all the right notes. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha and sweet spices are all pushed forward into the sensual, inviting finish. This is a superb showing from Voerzio's Barbera. Drinking Window: 2016 - 2025."

Poderi Aldo Conterno "Conca Tre Pile" Barbara d'Alba 2015

92+ Our Score
(12/2018) This single-site Barbera comes from the Conca Tre Pile, a hilly area located in the famous Barolo cru of Bussia-Soprana in Monforte d'Alba. The grapes are hand harvested from 45-year-old vines, vinified in stainless steel tanks and matured in French barrique for one year. The result is a full-bodied and full-flavored Barbera that is round and lively with excellent balance and a long finish. Dark red fruits are beautifully complemented by oak-driven baking spice and vanilla bean. Treat yourself to this classic Barbera from Aldo Conterno, one of Piedmont's greatest producers!

G. D. Vajra Barbera d'Alba 2015

90+ Our Score
88 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(6/2018) "The 2015 Barbera d'Alba offers good up-front immediacy in a bold, fruit-driven style that is best enjoyed upon release. The plump, juicy personality of the year is very much on display. Drinking Window: 2017 - 2021."

G. D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba 2017

90+ Our Score
90 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "Dolcetto is sometimes considered the ugly duckling of the Langhe. But in a hot vintage such as this, the grape flaunts its inner beauty and charm. The 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba delivers earthy and raw aromas of black fruit, plum and black olive. There are dusty sensations of crushed mineral or granite on the close. The finish offers vibrancy, depth and freshness."

G. D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba 2016

Latest release of this dark fruited, violet filled Dolcetto from Vajra!
89 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(6/2018) "The 2016 Dolcetto d'Alba is inky, deep and full of flavor. The imprint of Dolcetto comes through loud and clear in the inky blue/purplish fruit and spice flavors. Supple at the outset, but with good tannic grip, Vajra's Dolcetto delivers superb quality for the money. Drinking Window: 2017 - 2023."

Ghiomo "Lavai" Barbera d'Alba 2016

New release of this Vin Chicago favorite!
91 Our Score
(3/2018) From a converted monastery in the municipality of Guarene hails this perennial Vin Chicago favorite. Immediately impressive in the glass, with a brooding, richly dark tone, the 2016 Lavai offers a very clean and expressive nose of cherries, dark plum and oregano. The palate radiates with zinging acidity and delicious prickly red fruit. Youthful, energetic and a bit riper than most vintages, we love this wine's wonderful combination of precision and power. It will pair beautifully with just about anything!

Matteo Correggia Barbera d'Alba 2015

90 Our Score
(11/2018) Correggia consistently bottles high quality Piedmont reds, including this tasty 2015 Barbera. An "old school" DeGrazia import, the Correggia wines are not flashy or overdone, but authentic - and are especially wonderful when served with food. Look for fresh and tangy red fruits with subtle earth and red floral nuances along with lively acidity and medium tannin. Nuanced enough to be versatile with everything from tacos to braised lamb to pepperoni pizza!

Montalbera "Cuvee Rose" Brut NV

89 Our Score
(4/2017) We were very excited to discover that one of our favorite producers for "off the beaten path" varietals in Piedmont made a sparkling wine. Grignolino usually makes for a wonderfully light and easy drinking red, but this dry sparkling rose bottling is loads of fun! Fresh watermelon, cherry blossoms and subtle hints of fennel seed make for a unique, lighter bodied bubbly that is perfect for brunch, lunch or all on its own!
