Domaine Tempier Bandol Rose 2018

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(8/2019) "Shimmering orange. Fresh pit fruit, red berry and floral qualities on the highly perfumed nose, along with suggestions of dusty minerals and orange zest. Juicy, focused and lithe on the palate, offering intense nectarine, red currant, strawberry and candied lavender flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and mineral cut on a very long, sappy finish that strongly echoes the floral and pit fruit notes."

Chateau de la Noblesse Bandol Rouge 2015

90+ Our Score
(8/2019) Château de La Noblesse is a very traditional boutique Provence estate run by 5th generation vigneron Agnes Cade. Their 2015 Bandol Rouge blends 95% Mourvedre with 5% Grenache. It is deliciously classic in style, with big tannins, dark flavors, earth and balancing acidity. This beauty is normally priced around $25. We're blowing it out for nearly 30% less. Considering how expensive Bandol has become, this rustic southern French gem is a real value. Drinkable now through 2025.

(8/2018) "Light, vivid orange. Pungent, mineral-accented blood orange and red berry scents, with a subtle floral note in the background. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering raspberry and lavender flavors that are braced by a refreshingly bitter citrus pith note. Shows very good clarity and persistence on the finish, which leaves a dusty mineral note behind. Drinking window: 2019 - 2021."

Chateau de la Noblesse Bandol Blanc 2017

90+ Our Score
(6/2019) Bandol Blanc is not very common, and on the rare occasion American drinkers do discover one, the wines tend to be prohibitively expensive. Not here, not with our "direct import" relationship and a further incentivizing "blow-out" price from the importer. This richly and rounded textured blend of 60% Clairette, 30% Ugni Blanc and 10% Rolle (aka Vermentino) hits the spot with brisk and exotic flavors, including lime zest, nectarine, white peach, creme brulee and macadamia, all atop a theme of rocky earth. Drinkable now thru 2021, this wine opens with oxygen, and would be lovely with various preparations of fatty fish dishes.
