Caves Duplessis "Le Clos" Grand Cru Chablis 2016

95 Wine & Spirits
(4/2019) "Lilian Duplessis farms a one-acre parcel in Les Clos, his only grand cru holding. Those vines produce his most concentrated Chablis, a fresh and elegant 2016 that he fermented in stainless steel, then aged for nine months in neutral barrels. For now, the flavors are undeveloped, with incipient notes of grain-the scent of wheat sheaves, the crunch of cornmeal-and stony, smoky earth. At its core, the wine's intensely ripe fruit moves from nectarine toward apricot, enriching the structure and suggesting the complexity that will come with age."

Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin "Vaudesir" Grand Cru Chablis 2015

93+ Our Score
90-92 Burghound
(10/2016) "This is one of the freshest wines in the range and with good Chablis character in the form of oyster shell, iodine, sea breeze and ripe floral scents. There is impressive richness to the very generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a powerful, mildly austere and solidly persistent finish. Oddly for Vaudésir this is almost rustic at present though this may change with a few years of bottle age."

Caves Duplessis "Montee de Tonnerre" 1er Cru Chablis 2016

93 Vinous, Neal Martin
(8/2018) "The 2016 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a very precise bouquet with subtle veins of liquorice infusing the citrus fruit, all well defined and focused, if not blatantly powerful. The palate is very well delineated with a slightly viscous, utterly harmonious opening. This feels effortless and natural, the acidity beautifully pitched with a precise and sustained finish that has just the right amount of salinity to urge another sip. Bon vin! Drink 2020 - 2032."

Caves Duplessis "Fourchaume" 1er Cru Chablis 2016

92 Vinous, Neal Martin
(8/2018) "The 2016 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru offers a little more richness and fruite than the Vaillons with orange zest, dried apricot and light red apple scents, a little melted wax emerging with time. The palate is clean and precise, full of tension and race with a very poised, judiciously spiced finish. Excellent. Drink 2019 - 2032."

Caves Duplessis "Montmains" 1er Cru Chablis 2015

92 Wine Advocate
(8/2017) "The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains comes from two large parcels, one on the limit with Fôrets. There is a subtle oily, linseed note to this Montmains, quite complex and rich, but well defined with plenty of nuances and hints of walnut and pressed flowers emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a slightly waxy texture, well-judged acidity and a spicy vein that becomes more prominent as the wine continues, with hints of ginger and fennel lacing the finish. This is one of the best offerings from Duplessis in 2015."

Domaine Collet "Montmains" 1er Cru Chablis 2016

93 Our Score
(5/2019) This outstanding 1er Cru Chablis is an incredible expression of the Montmains terroir. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks all the way up until bottling to preserve freshness and minerality. Classic chalky limestone rocky earth is met with subtle notes of smoke and gunmetal. The texture is round with great depth. Brisk acidity carries the flavors down the long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now or cellar for a decade. Wow!

Le Hauts de Milly "Fourchaume" 1er Cru Chablis 2016

90-93 Burghound
(10/2017) "Like several of the wines in the range there is a trace of exoticism to the essence of pear and apple-scented nose that displays just enough Chablis elements to confirm its origins. There is first-rate richness to the full-bodied, generously proportioned and concentrated middle weight plus flavors that deliver seriously good length on the balanced, firm and age-worthy finish. This is also really quite good. 2022+"

(5/2019) Another textbook Chablis here from Domaine Collet. Fresh and clean flavors of apple and pear fruits are followed by deliciously classic notes of limestone, chalky mineral, and oyster shell. The texture is soft and round, the acidity is brisk and the finish is quite long. Delicious!

Domaine Collet Chablis 2016

91 Our Score
(9/2018) The vines that produce this insanely tasty village-level Chablis are one row from the 1er Cru vineyard of Montmains. Offering up real 1er Cru quality at village-level pricing, this excellent bottling from Collet has laser-beam focused acidity that carries a bevy of complex flavors including oyster shell, button mushroom and loads of chalky minerality. The wine sees 10% new French oak which leads to a fuller body that is broad and round. A great choice for a chilled seafood platter, lobster dinner or a high-end tasting menu.
