Domaine Robert Denogent Macon Villages 2014

92 Our Score
(1/2019) One of the most respected producers in the Maconnais, and in all of southern Burgundy for that matter, is Domaine Robert Denogent. Run by fourth generation vigneron Nicolas Robert, the single-site Chardonnays of this estate are often compared to great Meursaults and Puligny-Montrachets, and rightly so. This bottling is their entry level wine, and it is a fantastic value at our discounted price. Offering minerality, chalky tension and flavors of ripe pear, honeyed citrus and toasted almond, this four-year old Chardonnay is drinking beautifully, especially with roast chicken!

Henri Perrusset Macon Farges Vieilles Vignes 2016

90+ Our Score
(7/2018) We couldn't resist the deliciousness of this 2016 Macon-Farges. Sourced from a single parcel of hand-harvested 60-year-old vines grown in clay-limestone soils, this is a plump but seriously mineral-driven Chardonnay. Fermentation occurs naturally in tank with wild yeasts, completing malolactic in the spring with no oak contact. Look for ripe citrus and orchard fruits with hints of mushroom, cheese cloth, limestone and almond butter. A very tasty white Burgundy.
