Domaine Aubert Lefas "Les Argillieres" 1er Cru Pommard 2015

94 Our Score
(6/2017) This cuvée saw 20% new oak - which you'd never guess as it gives such pure fruit and earth tones. Subtle, balanced notes of light baking spice along with very ripe cherry and wild dark berry fruit, rose and roasted meat aromas add up to a complex and youthful nose. On the palate, the wine is very deep with varied earth, floral and dark red fruit flavors trying to sneak out from behind the big Pommard structure. It is chewy, as all authentic Pommard 1er Cru should be. The wine shows some tempting accessibility, but really needs time - ideally another 3-4 years - and should develop nicely over the next 8-15 and beyond.
