Chateau Figeac St. Emilion 2015

100 Jeb Dunnuck
(11/30/2017) "A hold onto your hat wine, the 2015 Chateau Figeac is pure perfection and one of the wines of this terrific vintage. A blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc, its deep purple color is followed by a huge nose of creme de cassis, black raspberries, smoked earth, and graphite. This is followed by a full-bodied, opulent and incredibly concentrated Saint-Emilion that has everything in the right places, no hard edges, thrilling purity of fruit, and a great, great finish. This is one of those rare gems that carries huge intensity and richness, yet still glides across the palate with no sense of weight or heaviness. Winemaker Frederic Faye thinks the 2016 is even better but that certainly isn't stopping me from giving this crazy good wine a triple digit score. Everyone owes it to themselves to try and taste this wine at least once!"

(12/2017) "One of the stars of the vintage, the 2015 Troplong Mondot has come together beautifully over the last year and half. Rich and sumptuous to the core, it is a classic wine from this property, built on serious fruit density and textural richness. Dark red cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and spice are some of the many notes that build as the 2015 shows off its irrepressible personality. A viscerally exciting, resonant wine, it just needs a few years to shed some of its baby fat. Tasted two times. Drinking window: 2025 - 2040."

Chateau Larcis Ducasse St.-Emilion 2015

99 James Suckling
95 Wine Advocate
95 Wine Spectator
97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(2/2018) "The 2015 Larcis Ducasse is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. Rose petal, lavender, spice and mint give it an attractive upper register that melds seamlessly into a core of inky red and purplish fruit. Dense, powerful and overt, the 2015 also has quite a bit of freshness to liven up the flavors. Silky tannins and soft contours add to the wine's racy, sensual personality. The 2015 is going to be virtually impossible to resist in its youth. Drink 2022-2040."

(1/2019) "The 2016 Larcis Ducasse is absolutely gorgeous. Fresh, vibrant and alluring, with tremendous vibrancy, the 2016 has so much to offer. Expressive savory and blood orange notes add brightness to the red cherry and plum fruit, with beams of firm yet well-integrated tannins that give the wine its shape and energy. In 2016, Larcis brings together undeniable raciness and power in a complete package that is irresistibly beautiful. Give it a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften. Drink 2024 - 2056."

Chateau Troplong Mondot St. Emillion 2012

(4/2015) "The 2012 is another truly great wine from Troplong Mondot. It's always sentimental to taste this wine, realizing that proprietress Christine Valette (the larger-than-life heart and soul behind this estate) has passed away. She was one of the bright, shining stars of Bordeaux. Nevertheless, her legacy is certainly well-established, and the quality of this wine is beyond reproach. Inky bluish purple, its great notes of cassis, blackberry, licorice are followed by a full-bodied, opulently textured wine with stunning concentration, purity and overall balance. It should drink well for 20-25 years and turn out to be one of the great superstars of 2012. Their 63-acre vineyard was cropped at 31 hectoliters per hectare, producing a final blend of 90% Merlot and 10 Cabernet Sauvignon that achieved 14.2% alcohol."

Chateau La Clotte St. Emilion 2015

From the owners of Chateau Ausone!
95+ Wine Advocate
(2/21/2018) "This was the first vintage for the Vauthier family of Chateau Ausone off this tiny three-hectare estate. Composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 85% new, the 2015 La Clotte displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color and a very spicy nose of cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise and allspice over core of red and black currants, mulberries and black soil plus a waft of violets. Full-bodied and decadently fruited with a firm backbone of very ripe, beautifully velvety tannins, it has a lively backbone providing loads of lift throughout the very long finish. Drink Date 2022 - 2044."

#16 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2018!
95 James Suckling
95 Wine Spectator
(3/31/2018) "A rich, expressive, slightly showy style, with waves of cassis, creamed raspberry and boysenberry fruit racing forth, backed by a polished yet ample structure. The long, licorice- and ganache-framed finish packs on weight as it moves along, yet stays defined and pure. Impressive. Best from 2022 through 2040. 9,333 cases made."

Chateau Le Prieure St-Emilion 2016

98 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2018) "One of the unquestioned Sleeper jewels of the year, the 2016 Le Prieure is off the charts beautiful. Silky and impossibly refined, the 2016 is a wine of pure and total precision. Today, the 2016 is a bit more restrained than it was from barrel, when it was a more overt wine. That is not a bad thing, though, as I suspect the 2016 is going to need a number of years to be at its finest. Dark, beautifully perfumed and gracious, Le Prieure represents the height of finesse in Saint-Emilion. Jean-Claude Berrouet consults for the Artemis Group, which is now the sole owner of Le Prieure. The 2016 is a fabulous wine by any measure. Don't miss it. Drinking window: 2024 - 2041."

Chateau Bellefont-Belcier St. Emilion 2015

95 James Suckling
93 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(2/2018) "Powerful, dense and explosive, with notable thrust to the red cherry, plum, leather and licorice flavors, the dramatic, full-throttle 2015 Bellefont-Belcier is every bit as impressive as it was from barrel. Dark red cherry, mocha, new leather and spice build into the racy, voluptuous finish. The tannins need time to soften, but all the elements are in the right place. In a word: terrific. Drink 2020 - 2035."
