Lucien Crochet "La Chene Marchand" Sancerre 2016

93 Our Score
(7/2019) There are many growers with the name "Crochet" in the Sancerre region of France's Loire Valley. None have the reputation of Lucien, a relatively small Domaine imported by Neal Rosenthal for over 35 years. This bottling, from the famed single "Le Chene Marchand" cru, is like the very best Sancerre bottlings. It delivers citrus fruits, flavors of chalky minerality and a high acid finish, but it does all of these subtly...elegantly. The drinker is greeted with sublime texture and richness and concentration of flavor that nearly masks the intense acidity and layer of citrus, orchard and stone fruit complexity. A delight to drink now, or over the next five years. If opened now, it's recommended to give the wine plenty of oxygen, as the wonderful flavors only lengthen and expand.

Francois Crochet "Le Petit Chemarin" Sancerre 2017

92+ Our Score
(7/2019) This old-vine single vineyard Sancerre, planted in 1976, is the definition of what intense minerality tastes like. Graceful and elegant, it sings of chalky, limestone soils with a backdrop of zippy citrus and orchard fruits. The production here is minuscule and these will disappear fast.

Francois Crochet "Les Amoureuses" Sancerre 2017

92+ Our Score
(7/2019) This stunning single vineyard Sancerre comes from a site that is packed with a mixture of clay and limestone. This unique terroir results in a wine that is both powerful and racy with incredible depth of flavor and complexity. The juice is aged in a combination of both stainless steel tanks and large neutral oak tanks. Look for pure fruit notes of yellow pear, green apple and dried lemon peel with an intense chalky minerality and a pinch of dried herbs. Classic and mouthwateringly delicious!

Francois Crochet "Le Chene Marchand" Sancerre 2017

92 Our Score
(7/2019) This stunningly well-structured single-vineyard Sancerre binds characteristically crisp acidity and minerality with luscious fruit. White peach, dragon fruit and lime zest are immediately apparent, supported by more subtle undertones of jasmine, basil, cotton and limestone. This Sancerre is packed - as complex as it is limited. A favorite Vin Chicago producer, you'll only find this offering here and it won't last long!

Domaine Roger & Christophe Moreux "Les Monts Damnes" Sancerre 2015

93 Wine Enthusiast
(10/1/2017) "This is a tropical-fruit-flavored wine with only a hint of more herbal flavors. It is ripe and juicy with sweeping fruitiness as well as acidity. The texture, mineral in character, comes from the chalk of the vineyard-one of the top sites in Sancerre. Drink this beautiful wine from 2018. Editors' Choice."

Domaine Lucien Crochet Sancerre 2015

91 Our Score
(4/2018) Imported by Neal Rosenthal, the taut, bone dry Sauvignon Blancs from Lucien Crochet are definitively Sancerre. This offering, sourced from a handful of top sites, shows ripe citrus fruits, chalk, and smoke-y flint flavors. Though the '15 vintage is ripe, and this wine shows richness, it is classic in its brisk finish.
