Andrea Felici Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2017

91+ Our Score
(2/2019) Wow! So much concentrated goodness on this fresh, medium-bodied white from Italy's Marche region. Tasty ripe citrus and orchard fruit tones blend well with nuances of yellow flowers, salty chalk and wasabi. The medium-plus acidity is worked in so very skillfully. We love Verdicchio, and this one is a winner!

Fresh, crisp, mineral-driven and oh-so-long. What a value!

(2/2018) "Pale straw-green. Very intense aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit on the bright, captivating nose. Then crisp, juicy and saline, with a glyceral mouthfeel but also lively lemony and orchard fruit flavors that linger impressively. Outstanding entry-level Verdicchio that will appeal to those Sauvignon Blanc lovers who might not yet know Verdicchio. 13.5 percent alcohol."

Marchetti Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 2017

88+ Our Score
(10/2018) The Marche region of east-central Italy is home to some fantastic reds and whites and is especially known for the Verdicchio grape. This dry, fresh example from Marchetti comes from the sub-zone of Castelli di Jesi, and it's excellent. Subtle notes of anise complement the array of citrus, stone fruit and salty, gray-rock mineral flavors while the zesty acidity and lightly creamy mouthfeel make for a balanced and pleasant drink. Try it by itself, with a variety of soups or weighty white sauce pasta and pizza.
