Chateau Thivin "Reverdon" Brouilly 2017

93 Wine Advocate
(9/22/2018) "The 2017 Brouilly Reverdon bursts from the glass with lovely aromas of blackberries, cassis, plums and potpourri. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, bright and juicy, with sweeter fruit than the 2016 rendition but a shared sense of crunchiness and vivacity. It was only bottled three weeks before I tasted it, but it was already showing very well. Drink Date: 2019 - 2029."

Domaine Paul Cherrier Sancerre 2017

91 Our Score
(2/2019) A pure authentic and unadulterated expression of Sauvignon Blanc here in this 2017 Domaine Paul Cherrier Sancerre. A Thomas Calder selection, it is clean on the palate with chalk-scented minerality and zippy acidity. We are particularly fond of the juicy baked citrus and fleshy gooseberry nuances. Long, brisk and delicious.

Averaen Willamette Valley Chardonnay 2017

90+ Our Score
(2/2019) This richly textured, wonderfully balanced Oregon Chardonnay from winemaker Adam Smith is laden with orchard and stone fruit and is a great example of the highly appealing style of Oregon Chardonnay. It also addresses our main (really our only) gripe with Oregon Pinot which is their tendency to have high prices. At $18.99 per bottle, this hits right in the sweet spot. Try a bottle with your California Chardonnay and your White Burgundy loving friends. Both will be happy!

Arnaud Lambert "Clos de Midi" Saumur Blanc 2017

92 Wine Spectator
91 Our Score
(2/2019) Here's a delicious bone-dry Chenin Blanc from a certified organic vineyard featuring 30+-year-old vines planted in soft limestone. Raised 50% in tank and 50% in neutral barrels, it is clean and long with subtle suggestions of botrytis, baked apple, button mushroom, honeycomb and preserved lemon. Juicy and serious with intense minerality, this high acid white is complex and classic. Drinkable now and over the next five years.

Aubert Lefas "Les Grandes Carelles" Bourgogne Rouge 2017

90 Our Score
(2/2019) Our favorite Pommard grower, Aubert Lefas, has bottled another solid Bourgogne Rouge. Flavors of black cherry, smoke and clay/organic earth, along with a hint of coffee, are nicely paired with a very bright, chewy Pommard-like structure. A solid French Pinot Noir, this is drinkable now and for the next 3-5 years.

Ground Effect Santa Barbara County Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

90 Our Score
(2/2019) This organically produced wine is the hot new thing in the sub-$20 Cabernet Sauvignon category. A combination of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, mostly from the Happy Canyon AVA, it shows plenty of grip and complexity with flavors of dark berry. forest floor and woodsy spice. You won't find many Cabs this big and intense for this low of a price.

Andrea Felici Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2017

91+ Our Score
(2/2019) Wow! So much concentrated goodness on this fresh, medium-bodied white from Italy's Marche region. Tasty ripe citrus and orchard fruit tones blend well with nuances of yellow flowers, salty chalk and wasabi. The medium-plus acidity is worked in so very skillfully. We love Verdicchio, and this one is a winner!

(12/2018) "Bright golden straw-yellow. Perfumed aromas of white peach, orange blossom, lime cordial, sage and jasmine. Boasts excellent energy and grip to the flavors of fresh pomaceous orchard fruit and sweet spices. Finishes very long and bright, with strong hints of fresh citrus fruit and vanilla cream. A very successful 2017 Moscato d'Asti in what was a hot year, and a benchmark example of what Paolo Saracco can achieve with this variety. For my money, this estate is the DRC of Moscato d'Asti."

(2/2019) "Editors' Choice - This is a simply gorgeous bottle that's loaded with fresh and palate-pleasing flavors of cut pear. Lively acidity with a mix of citrus brings extra life and length, and this will show best if decanted for an hour or two prior to drinking." (Oregon)
