Domaine Sigalas Santorini Assyrtiko 2017

93 Wine Advocate
95 Wine & Spirits
(8/2018) "This assyrtiko may not be as powerful as Sigalas's single-vineyard bottlings, but the 2017 excels in the simple joy and purity it transmits. It's a liquid landscape of Santorini, from the clean, salty scent of a white-sand beach to the blinding brightness of the white limed buildings, telegraphed here in sunny, pithy lemon flavors. It feels minimalist and yet dynamic, thirst-quenching and vital."

Gai'a Estate "Thalassitis" Santorini 2017

95 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "The 2017 Thalassitis is an unoaked Assyrtiko coming in at 13% alcohol. This is a bottling I usually prize for its freshness, elegance and lively demeanor. This year, one in which the wines could have a lot of concentration if you could avoid heat spikes, it has all of those things still, but it seems to lean to a deeper style instead of an exhilarating one. Overall, it finishes with a big hit of fruit, nicely supported by its acidity. On the first day tasted, it was a bit stolid. The next day, it reminded me of Thalassitis again-big acidity slicing and dicing that fruit, even in a year when it seems very dense and ripe. The score went up notably. The gripping and tense finish, by the way, seems endless. This does lack its usual finesse, so we'll see where it goes when it unfolds. This does have some things to prove in the cellar. In the new Santorini Assyrtiko trend, it is no longer acceptable to make wines that just drink well for five years, at least not if you want to be at the top of your game. It mostly seems pretty super, and it is worth leaning up right now. Drink Date 2018 - 2027."

Alpha Estate Florina Sauvignon Blanc 2017

90 Wine Advocate
90 Our Score
(11/2018) This is the fifth vintage in a row we've featured of the Alpha Estate Sauvignon Blanc and it's another big-time winner. Wine Advocate writes that this 2017 is "beautiful in its herb-tinged flavor and character" and "it is hard to stop drinking it if you are a Sauvignon Blanc fan." We totally agree with both the flavor profile and the appealing character of this favorite from Greece. The wine will be rolling to 2018 vintage soon, so if you're one of the many Alpha Estate fans in our customer base, grab a few bottles of the 2017 now so you won't miss out!

Domaine Skouras Peloponnese Moscofilero 2017

91 Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "The 2017 Moscofilero (as Skouras spells it) comes in with four grams of residual sugar, 6.2 grams of total acidity and 12% alcohol. The combination makes for a dry wine with a lively feel and vivid flavor. Sourced from vines at 650 meters, this is always crisp and elegant. So, too, this year. Wonderfully aromatic as well in its youth, this is exuberant, gloriously fresh and intensely fruity. The fruit is always lifted, though. Then, it just coats the palate, despite its elegant demeanor. It lingers beautifully on the rather tense finish. On the first day tasted, if it was lacking anything, the fruit was not quite as focused. It was, after all, tasted only about 30 days after bottling. It still has some room to grow, and retasting it the next day clearly proved that. It seemed to answer all questions, barely budging in development but just seeming more precise and focused. This should be a great wake-me-up in the summer, when it will be in better form. It might actually be even more attractive in the spring of 2019. It should also hold nicely for a few years, as past reports have demonstrated, but many won't bother. Being fresh is what this is all about."

Orealioss Gaea "San Gerasimo" Cephalonia Robola 2017

90 Our Score
(3/2019) A new treasure from the Greek island of Cephalonia. This is a premium bottling from the highly respected, quality-driven Robola Cooperative of Cephalonia. An aromatic nose of white flowers and stone fruits - especially peach - leads to great complexity on the palate. The peach notes continue on to the palate, rounded out with an herbal edge and flinty minerality. Thanks to a mis-shipment from the importer, we're able to sell this crisp, clean, light-on-its-feet white for a very appealing price.
