Domaine Chardigny "A La Folie" Saint Amour 2017

Winemaker's Notes
"On the nose, a power punch of charming bright red, ripe strawberries, and freshly cut sweet green herbs race out of the glass, leading to the fresh, lively palate filled with sun-baked red and blue berries. Further rounding out the enticing mouthfeel is the wine's good tannic structure, which is kissed by a touch of metal and mineral. Elevage in concrete, stainless steel, and neutral oak barrels keeps the wine full of life and purpose, and if a wine could exemplify "love" in a bottle, this Saint-Amour would be it."

Martin Woods Willamette Valley Gamay Noir 2017

91 Our Score
(3/2019) This gorgeous Willamette Valley Gamay is sourced from four vineyards throughout the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. This just exudes classic Gamay nuances of bright flowers, fresh earth and snappy red fruits. Highly aromatic, it has great texture and acidity. This is one of the best examples of Oregon Gamay we have come across yet!

Martin Woods Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay 2017

91 Our Score
(3/2019) There is a temptation to call this "Burgundian" but it is more accurate to call it "Oregonian." This producer wants everything that goes into the wine to be from Oregon, and that includes aging the wine in neutral Oregon oak barrels. This is a lean style of Chardonnay with great depth of flavors. The fruit is a refreshing mix of fresh slices apples and pears sprinkled with lemon zest. Underneath lies complex flavors of rich mineral and subtle oak spice. Fans of both Burgundy and California should check this one out to see what Oregon Chardonnay is capable of!

Bichi "Rosa" Tecanta Rose 2017

90+ Our Score
(9/2018) This small family run winery is causing quite the stir north and south of the border! Once you taste these wines you will see why! They possess such sizzling energy and verve, totally unique and utterly enthralling. Their "Rosa" comes from a small 20-hectare dry farmed vineyard and the grape varietal is... Uknown. Some think it may be Carinena, other Dolcetto, but when it is this good they decided they really don't care what they call it. Made entirely by hand with minimal intervention, these wines truly speak of their Baja heritage.

Gai'a Estate "Thalassitis" Santorini 2017

95 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "The 2017 Thalassitis is an unoaked Assyrtiko coming in at 13% alcohol. This is a bottling I usually prize for its freshness, elegance and lively demeanor. This year, one in which the wines could have a lot of concentration if you could avoid heat spikes, it has all of those things still, but it seems to lean to a deeper style instead of an exhilarating one. Overall, it finishes with a big hit of fruit, nicely supported by its acidity. On the first day tasted, it was a bit stolid. The next day, it reminded me of Thalassitis again-big acidity slicing and dicing that fruit, even in a year when it seems very dense and ripe. The score went up notably. The gripping and tense finish, by the way, seems endless. This does lack its usual finesse, so we'll see where it goes when it unfolds. This does have some things to prove in the cellar. In the new Santorini Assyrtiko trend, it is no longer acceptable to make wines that just drink well for five years, at least not if you want to be at the top of your game. It mostly seems pretty super, and it is worth leaning up right now. Drink Date 2018 - 2027."

Ruth Lewandowski "Naomi" Mendocino County Grenache Gris 2017

90 Our Score
(3/2019) Farmed from extremely old vines (100+ years!) this Grenache Gris from the Gibson Ranch in Mendocino exhibits incredible depth with freshness to match. Aromas and flavors of stone fruits like white peach and Bosc pear are joined with a wonderfully textured waxiness on the palate and a streak of acidity that gives excellent balance to this seriously laudable bit of natural winemaking. It's made with native yeast fermentation, unfined and unfiltered. Don't miss it!
