Quinta do Vale Meao Douro 2013

97 Wine Enthusiast
95 Wine Advocate
(3/2016) "The 2013 Tinto (the Estate, flagship red here) is a blend of 58% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Barroca and 2% Tinta Roriz, aged for 18 months in 225-liter Allier barriques (80% new and 20% second use). It comes in at 14% alcohol. Adding a layer of concentration and more power to the Meandro, its sibling reviewed this issue, this has a wonderfully elegant feel, while adding some surprising pop and power to the gripping and lingering finish. Let's not forget the part where it provides wonderful intensity of flavor on the finish. It's just delicious this year, without ever being candied, sweet or obvious. Subtle at times, yet intense and persistent, this perfectly balanced beauty should hold well. It has some things to prove in the cellar, but it should develop well. As time goes on, I'm expanding drinking windows, but let's remain a little on the conservative side. Sourced from vines averaging 45 years in age, there were 2,050 cases produced. Drink 2017-2035."

Warres Vintage Port 2016

#14 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2018!
98 Wine Spectator
(12/31/2018) "Gorgeous, with warm plum reduction and gently steeped raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors forming the core, all inlaid with warm ganache and smoldering tobacco accents. Very plush in feel, but has no lack of energy, as everything sails beautifully through the long finish. A late echo of anise completes the seduction. Best from 2035 through 2055. 3,000 cases made."

(4/30/2012) "Redolent of blackberry and dark fruits, this also features a fascinating mix of mocha, graphite and tobacco flavors. Very juicy as well, which figures into the finish of fine-grained tannins and spice. An exuberant and refined Vintage Port. Best from 2020 through 2050."

Antonio Madeira "Vinhas Velhas" Dao Tinto 2015

91+ Our Score
(3/2019) Antonio Madeira is passionate about the traditions and heritage of the Dao's Serra Da Estrela subzone and has nearly single-handedly rescued and preserved some of its historical vineyards from abandonment. This red field blend comes from 50-100-year-old vines of traditional varietals including Baga, Tinta Amarela, and Jaen. It is a beautiful expression of the region with dark red fruits, warm rocky earth, leather, cured meat and cracked black pepper. This dry red wine pairs best with smoked and braised meats.

Warre's Late Bottled Vintage Port 2002

We jumped on the opportunity to purchase this extremely well-priced library selection. The additional aging has resulted in an LBV that combines the characteristics of Tawny and Vintage Port. Delicious.

(10/28/2016) "The 2002 Late Bottled Vintage Port is unfiltered and bottled with a long cork. Elegant and aromatic, this is a beautiful achievement in a very difficult vintage in Douro. Showing terrific concentration for the vintage, it has mild tannins at this point and controlled flavors laced with a touch of herbs. This is a great time to dive into this unfiltered LBV. It still has plenty of life left, but it is unlikely to get better. Drink 2016-2030."

Quinta do Noval Unfiltered Single Vineyard Late Bottled Vintage Port 2012

91 Wine Advocate
(8/31/2017) "The 2012 Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage Port is another fine Noval LBV, traditionally styled and bottled in June 2017 with a long cork. Noval is one of the region's finest and most consistent producers of traditional LBVs, wines that become more expressive and can develop with age. This is a little on the lighter side-that's the vintage, perhaps-but still respectably concentrated. It has fine, expressive fruit and the elegant styling for which Noval is known. This should drink well on release and hold well for a couple of decades (yes, traditional LBVs age well and develop). It will be released sometime in late 2017."
