Caprili "AdAlberto" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012

94 Wine Enthusiast
95 Wine Spectator
95+ Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(4/2018) "Good full ruby-red. Smoky black cherry, violet and herbs on the nose, along with strong licorice and tobacco notes. Dense, plush and concentrated, but showing excellent cut and vinosity to the savory dark fruit, herb and tobacco flavors. Not especially blessed with easygoing sweetness of fruit, this fine-grained wine communicates a strong impression of extract and serious but polished tannins for real aging potential. This Riserva could not be any more different from owner Giacomo Bartolommei's also beautiful 2013 Brunello (for comparison's sake, the 2012 Riserva is both deeper and broader, but less juicy and fruity), and both wines will have hordes of fans. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2035."

Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2013

94 James Suckling
94 Wine Spectator
94 Wine Advocate
(2/2018) "I never have enough praise for the excellent work achieved at Uccelliera. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is another proud notch in Andrea Cortonesi's belt. This is a fine and elegant wine that wraps smoothly over the palate. It also has an immediate and accessible personality that means you don't need to wait too long to enjoy it. The wine is redolent of dark fruit, spice, balsam herb, licorice and pressed flowers. You get loads of variety character. Drink Date: 2020 - 2035."

Voliero Brunello di Montalcino 2012

Made by Andrea Cortonesi of Uccelliera!
94+ Wine Advocate
(2/28/2017) "Voliero is a second brand made by Uccelliera's Andrea Cortonesi. It's slightly more affordable but that's a tricky argument to make given the new sky high price points I'm seeing across the denomination. The Voliero 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is a very pretty expression with dark fruit and an impressive sense of purity and primary fruit authenticity. At its core, you will encounter savory tones of spice, tobacco and leather. The bouquet also offers those beautifully polished Sangiovese-driven aromas of licorice, blue violets and balsam herb. The mouthfeel is succulent and rich. This is a very respectable Brunello that should age forward for at least ten years. Drink Date: 2018 - 2028."
