Alzinger "Ried Muhlpoint" Smaragd Gruner Veltliner 2017

94 Wine Spectator
(3/31/2019) "A rich, smoky Gruner, luscious and creamy up front, but with underlying acidity that pierces its way through, revealing persimmon, vanilla and cardamom notes. Features a really lovely texture, almost velvety, coating the palate, but still remains fresh. Complex and long. Best from 2020 through 2030. 212 cases imported."

(9/27/2018) "The most aromatic of the 2017 Gruner Veltliner Federspiels from Knoll, this has a ton of herb and white-pepper character, plus a long and crisp, mineral finish. Only the second vintage of this wine. Drink or hold."

Emmerich Knoll Wachau Gruner Veltliner Federspiel 2017

90+ Our Score
(6/2019) From the warm and very inviting 2017 vintage comes this textbook example of Gruner Veltliner from arguably the Wachau's most famous producer, Emmerich Knoll. The 2017 vintage yielded a wine that is perfect to drink in its youth. It is beautifully aromatic, clean and precise with classic notes of ripe pears, peach, radish, white pepper and minerality. The palate is rich and round with a long, succulent and slightly spicy finish. The only sad part is there's never enough to be had of these small production classics from Knoll. Grab some bottles before it's too late and enjoy all summer long with Thai food, sushi, fresh salads, or all on its own.

Barbara Ohlzelt "Kellerweingarten" Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2017

91 Our Score
(5/2019) A winemaker known for favoring focus and intensity, Barbara Ohlzelt is producing some of the best Kamptal Gruner Veltliner available at this price. Pear, green apple, lime zest and pepper complement the generous structure indicative of Gruner of this quality. Fresh and delicious now but has enough acidity to show well over the next few years!

91 Wine Advocate
(8/31/2017) "The 2015 Steiner Kogl 1OTW Gruner Veltliner has golden-yellow color and opens with a deep, clear, aromatic, fresh and spicy/flinty bouquet of ripe fruits. Full-Bodied, rich and elegant on the palate, with a fresh and mineral appearance and piquant acidity, this is a powerful, lush and very aromatic Gruner Veltliner with dense and concentrated yellow fleshed stone fruit, fine tannins and 13.5% alcohol. Crystalline and round. Drink Date 2020 - 2030."

Barbara Ohlzelt "Gruner Leader" Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2017

90 Our Score
(9/2018) Barbara Ohlzelt's entry-level Gruner is a fascinating glimpse into her style of winemaking. It is classic Gruner but in a very quiet, understated package. Look for notes of snap peas and crunchy cucumbers, followed by a nice salted lime kick. There is a lot of energy in this bottle, and as always, we are happy to have Gruner in a liter bottle!

Szigeti Gruner Veltliner Brut NV

90 Wine Enthusiast
(12/1/2017) "The nose is shy, showing just a few herbal hints reminiscent of yarrow. Frothy bubbles, however, pronounce the varietal character of Grüner Veltliner, revealing an appealing textural element as well as herb-tinged pear fruit. Fresh, dry and light on its feet, this would be a lovely apéritif."

The Fableist "426" Edna Valley Gruner Veltliner 2018

90+ Our Score
(6/2019) Do you remember the awesome "Hans Gruner" cans from Andrew Jones we carried the past two summers? Well, now that Andrew has sold off his canning operation, he is putting that gorgeous Grüner Veltliner into bottles! This delicious and refreshing "Gru-V" comes from Paragon and Morro View vineyards in Edna Valley. It is aged in a combination of 80% stainless steel tank and 20% neutral barrel. The result is a bright, nearly full-bodied wine with mouthwatering citrus zest, fresh pear, ripe peach and a dash of white pepper on the long finish. This is a serious effort that is going to make a wide range of white wine lovers VERY happy.
