Chateau Monbousquet Saint-Emilion 2014

93 James Suckling
93 Wine Spectator
(3/31/2017) "Not shy, with hefty fig paste and blackberry pâte de fruit notes backed by a rumble of bramble, ganache and licorice snap. Underneath roils a base layer of tobacco and graphite that should slowly surface with time. May have pushed the extraction envelope ever so slightly, but this keeps it together in the end. Best from 2022 through 2032."

Clos Larcis Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2014

Sharing the same great land as Chateau Pavie, it's no surprise that the 2014 Clos Larcis is strikingly beautiful. Produced from 100% Merlot, it expresses the charm and elegance of classic Saint-Emilion. This ready-to-drink Right Bank beauty leaps from the glass with delicious fruit flavors of ripe plum, black cherry and raspberry followed by notes of dried earth, fresh garden herbs and subtle spices. The palate is full-bodied with a silky soft mouthfeel. At 13.5% ABV, it is refined and well balanced with integrated tannins that melt off during the long finish. Polished and elegant, it is drinking great now and has the structure and finesse to be cellared for at least another five years.

Rombauer Carneros Merlot 2016

89 Jeb Dunnuck
(1/31/2019) "Incorporating 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Merlot is made from the same cloth and has a sweetly fruited, charming, delicious style as well as lots of red and black currants, black cherry, graphite, and chocolaty herb aromas and flavors. It's a sexy, delicious effort to drink over the coming 4-6 years."

Frog's Leap Napa Valley Merlot 2014

91+ Our Score
(10/2017) Frog's Leap proprietor John Williams credits the movie "Sideways" with actually saving Merlot! He believes that it helped to weed out the "plonk" Merlot that was being made, leaving grapes made with the care and attention to detail that this noble varietal deserves. The 2014 Frog's Leap is an excellent example of what Merlot should be. Dark cherry, plum and blueberry fruit dance on the palate with a spicy, velvety finish. A stunningly elegant wine, this should not be missed.

Andrew Will Columbia Valley Merlot 2016

92 Wine Advocate
(6/29/2018) "The 2016 Merlot from Andrew Will is a beauty - which augers very well for this year's vineyard-designate bottlings. Offering up aromas of black cherries, cassis, sweet spices and subtle notes of fruitcake, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and generous, with an ample core of ripe but succulent fruit, melting tannins and a long finish. Drink it over the next 5 or 6 years to profit from its youthful exuberance. Drink Date: 2018 - 2023."

Robert Keenan Napa Valley Merlot 2014

92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(12/2016) "Keenan's 2014 Merlot is a very pretty wine that shows the more translucent side of Merlot. Lifted, bright and articulate, the 2014 offers lovely finesse in its red-toned fruit and floral aromatics. I would prefer to drink the 2014 sooner rather than later given its mid-weight structure."

Chateau Cote de Baleau St Emilion 2014

90 James Suckling
90 Wine Spectator
90 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(2/2017) "The 2014 Côte de Baleau is a juicy, straightforward wine to drink now and over the next few years. Sweet red cherry, mint, anise and dried flowers are nicely layered throughout. Today, the 2014 comes across as quite supple and open-knit, but with a bit less depth than it showed from barrel. Even so, the 2014 is quite pretty. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years. Tasted two times. Drink 2017 - 2025."
