La Mascaronne "Fazioli" Cotes de Provence Rouge 2016

(6/2019) Chateau La Mascaronne produces one of our favorite Provence Roses, and they also make this equally compelling and delicious red. A blend of mostly Syrah with Mourvedre and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, this nearly full-bodied wine is deep and concentrated with black cherry, black raspberry, blueberry and blackberry fruit flavors. The minerality and rocky earth tones remind us of Priorat, with a touch of fresh herbs on the lengthy finish adding complexity. This is a very elegant and complex wine that totally over delivers, especially if allowed an hour or so in a decanter to fully open up.

(9/2019) Revered internationally, Chateau Musar is located in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. Their "Jeune" bottling, a blend of 50% Cinsault, 30% Syrah and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, is delicious and fresh, revealing a distinctly old world profile that reminds us of both Bordeaux and Rhone style wines. Unoaked and vibrant, this distinctive wine presents pure red and black fruit, along with a high elevation tension on the finish and an appealing hint of funk. A very cool wine here, even before taking into account the compelling history surrounding this famous producer.

(9/2020) Mary Taylor is a one-woman wine broker/importer/ambassador, sourcing quality wines from various European wine regions. This is our second vintage working with her Douro red, a deliciously rugged blend of 60% Touriga Nacional, 20% Tinta Roriz and 20% Touriga Franca. As with all Douro reds worth their salt, this bottling tempts with floral accented black fruit, a soft entry, and a chewy, earthy finish. Bring out the meat, please. Nice find Mary!
