Keo "St John" Commandaria NV

93+ Our Score
(12/2018) A deliciously rich dessert wine from Cyprus, Commandaria was initially produced by the Knights Templar not long after Richard the Lionheart conquered the island in 1191. Following harvest, the grapes are left to dry and concentrate in the sun. They are pressed and fermented, then aged solera style in barrel, drawn from the bottom and bottled. The result is a tawny-port like drink with a rich texture and deep dried fruit and floral flavors. Long, spicy, complex and wonderful!

(10/22/2018) "The fresh blue fruit on the nose is so enticing, ranging from blueberries to black raspberries and elderberries. Plenty of floral undertones, too. The palate is so polished and precise with crunchy acidity and a firm tannin structure. Drink now or hold."

Warre's Late Bottled Vintage Port 2002

We jumped on the opportunity to purchase this extremely well-priced library selection. The additional aging has resulted in an LBV that combines the characteristics of Tawny and Vintage Port. Delicious.

(10/28/2016) "The 2002 Late Bottled Vintage Port is unfiltered and bottled with a long cork. Elegant and aromatic, this is a beautiful achievement in a very difficult vintage in Douro. Showing terrific concentration for the vintage, it has mild tannins at this point and controlled flavors laced with a touch of herbs. This is a great time to dive into this unfiltered LBV. It still has plenty of life left, but it is unlikely to get better. Drink 2016-2030."

Castel Noarna "Mercuria" Vigneti delle Dolomiti 2012

91 Our Score
(1/2018) Marco Zani has been carefully tending his family's 7 hectars of vines high up in the Dolomite Mountains of Northern Italy since 1988. The family castle, yes they do have a castle, houses the winery and a well renowned restaurant run by the family. The "Mercuria" bottling is a blend of Cabernet and Merlot; however this is not a modern wine by any means. Both these varietals have a long standing history of being grown in the region; this is not a modern international interpretation of these grapes. The wine is rustic and gritty, with plenty of lovely earthy and mineral tones to balance the vibrant a lithe fruit notes. Hearty foods, such as grilled meats and braises, go hand in hand perfectly. This is a food wine and shines its brightest when paired so.

Casa Castillo "Las Gravas" Jumilla Red 2015

94 Wine Advocate
(12/29/2017) "The 2015 Las Gravas is a classic Mediterranean blend of Monastrell with 15% each Garnacha and Syrah, with 15% alcohol after fermenting with part of full clusters and indigenous grapes and aging in used oak barrels for 19 months. 2015 is the last vintage that Las Gravas has some Syrah, as it adds some sweet fruit he wants to avoid. However, it shows fresh within the balsamic profile, with plenty of rosemary and thyme notes combined with floral undertones and the character of the esparto grass and tree bark that are textbook descriptors of the variety. Drink Date: 2018 - 2030."

Zorzal "Tinto de Tiza" Eggo Red 2015

92 Our Score
94 Wine Advocate
(12/2016) "The one blend in the Eggo range is the 2015 Eggo Tinto de Tiza, which mixes Malbec with 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in 2,000-liter egg-shaped cement vats where the wine matured for almost one year. This feels quite complete and balanced, with good ripeness while keeping the balance and poise. The palate is juicy and fresh, with fine-grained tannins and a bittersweet finish akin to sour cherries. Very tasty and long. Super. Incredible for the price. 16,000 bottles were filled in January 2016."

Ironside "Reserve" Napa Valley Red Blend 2016

90+ Our Score
(1/2018) The new release of Ironside's "Reserve" is a seriously mouthfilling red blend, featuring 66% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petite Sirah and 4% Zinfandel. This Napa bottling is very soft, with a velvety texture and an easy but powerful finish. Plum and wild blackberry fruits are accented by white chocolate, vanilla and coffee-scented smoke flavors. A poster child for modern-style Napa red blends!
