(11/2020) From the sparsely populated municipality of Subirats in the Penedes region of northeast Spain, this tasty Cava is composed primarily of traditional varieties: 51% Parellada, 27% Macabeu and 17% Xarel-lo along with 5% of the more familiar Chardonnay. Nicely dry and clean with notes of apple blossom, yellow pear, lemon pith, white stone and hazelnut, it offers a lot of fresh bubbly goodness for the dollar.

(5/2020) We love the red wines from Castano - they're consistently great values! The good news is this Eric Solmon imported Spanish producer also makes white wine! This 50/50 blend of Macabeo and Chardonnay is a great deal at this close-out price. Flavors of pear, golden apple and honeysuckle finish round with river stone minerals. Perfect party white, or with grilled veg or Chicken Vesuvio.
