Olivier Cousin-Leduc "Pur Breton" Anjou Rouge 2017

Winemaker's Notes
"100% Cabernet Franc is hand-harvested, brought to the winery by a horse, destemmed and gently pressed. Only natural yeasts are used and the juice undergoes an extended maceration. Aged in old oak barrels. Ripe plum, juicy cherry, red apple core and chalk tones dominate the nose. Crushed strawberries mixed with invigoratingly fresh Bing cherry and red apple flavors explode on the palate."

Minimus Johan Vineyards Blaufrankisch 2015

91 Our Score
92 John Gilman
(9/2016) "I have tasted a few examples of the Blaufrankisch grape from Germany, but this example from Chad Stock's Minimus label is the first I have ever tasted from the United States. The 2015 comes in at a cool 12.8 percent octane and offers up a vibrant bouquet of black cherries, pepper, lovely soil tones, gentle smokiness and a topnote of tree bark. On the palate the wine is medium-full, bright and intensely flavored, with plenty of pepperiness on the palate, a solid core, tangy acids and a long, focused and moderately tannic finish. This is approachable today, but it really deserves at least a few years in the cellar to soften up a bit more on the backend. It has great finishing energy and precision and will be a terrific bottle of wine when it blossoms. (Drink between 2019-2040)"

Benedicte and Stephane Tissot "DD" Arbois Rouge 2017

92 Our Score
(11/2018) Natural wine done right! Tissot is a certified biodynamic grower in the Jura region of eastern France. They are one of our favorite producers of French sparkling wine outside of the Champagne region and they also make delicious still wines, including this blend of 1/3 each Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau. Boasting beautifully pure fruit and floral notes along with incredible energy and lift, the "DD" is bottled without the addition of any sulfur dioxide and as such is not for long-term aging. Drink young, as the wine is fresh, alive and delicious right now. This super cool nerdy wine would be brilliant with turkey, ham, duck or lamb!

Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot Cremant du Jura Extra Brut NV

91 Our Score
(11/2017) This delicious bottling is 50% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir with the local varieties of Trousseau and Poulsard making up the remaining 10%. The wine sees no dosage (the addition of sugar after the secondary fermentation) and the result is a bone dry "extra brut" wine with crisp and mouthwatering acidity complemented by a creamy palate. The finish is lengthy with subtle hints of nuts. This is a great substitute for Champagne if you're looking to increase value without sacrificing quality.

Raventos i Blanc "De Nit" Cava Rose 2015

91 Our Score
91+ Wine Advocate
(4/27/2018) "The ultra pale sparkling rose 2015 De Nit is a blend of 40% Xarello, 36% Macabeo, 18% Parellada and 6% Monastrell from their biodynamic vineyards. The color is obtained by pressing the Xarello and Monastrell together, which result in a pale must. It re-fermented in bottle for no less than 18 months and has 4.5 grams of sugar, so it's an extra brut. It's deliciously perfumed, subtle and elegant, with a core of aniseed, fennel and Mediterranean plants. It's more serious than the majority of roses, more with the spirit of a white. The palate has the delicious flavors and the tastiness of the limestone soils and a somewhat bitter touch in the finish, perhaps the contribution of Monastrell. This is stunning."

Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva 2015

94 Wine Spectator
96 James Suckling
(11/30/2018) "Aromas of plums, cherries and hints of green olives. White truffles and deep earth, too. Full-bodied, so layered and beautiful with a fabulous texture and ripe tannins. It is so pure and minimalist in the end, showing the effect of traditional, hands-off winemaking. Don't miss this. Decant before serving. One for the cellar. Drink or hold."

Occhipinti "SP68" Terre Siciliane Nero D'Avola/Frapatto 2016

93 James Suckling
93 Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(9/2017) "Dark ruby. Archetypal Frappato aromas that are pungently floral and bright, complicated by hints of dried herbs and spicy red berries. Then fresh, bright and lovely, with blackberry, raspberry and delicate herb flavors that are very complex and multilayered. Finishes long, mineral and juicy. Arianna Occhipinti has the Frappato variety nailed down and rarely makes anything but a great wine with it, so this blend comes up aces, offering a ton of flavor and only 12.5% alcohol."

E.Guigal Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 2015

92+ Our Score
91 Wine Advocate
96 Wine & Spirits
(2/2019) "This is a strapping Crozes-Hermitage, and a terrific example of the combination of power and finesse possible in the 2015 vintage. Culled from parcels in four villages, most of the vines growing on steep granite slopes, the wine is initially gruff and ungiving, the fruit walled off by tannins, oak and the simple density of the extract. But give it a few hours in a decanter and the structure begins to fill with flavor, juicy blackberry and plum notes welling up to meet the austere minerality head-on. It feels more Hermitage than Crozes, the firm tannins and deep, concentrated flavor demanding more time in the cellar to relax and reveal their detail."
