Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2016 3.0 LT

(12/27/2018) "Impressive, complex array of wild cherries, raspberries, garrigue herbs, lightly spiced pastry and stony, chalky minerals. Super-fresh florals. The palate has superb texture, roundness, completeness, depth and detail. Powerful yet elegant with powdery tannins and essence-like red fruit. Super-fleshy, supple and dense core, then strong at the edges. Layer upon layer peels away on the finish. Resounding finesse and equilibrium, showing the full potential of the plateau La Crau. Drink or hold."

Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils "Cuvee de Mon Aieul" Chateauneuf du Pape 2016

97 Wine Advocate
100 Jeb Dunnuck
(8/28/2018) "Getting more than one exclamation in the notes, the 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul is a deep, rich yet vibrant red that offers a kaleidoscope of kirsch liqueur, garrigue, crushed flowers, Asian spices, and cured meats. It's more opulent and sexier than the 2010, fresher and purer than the 2007, has deep, full-bodied aromas and flavors, and a huge finish. It's a sensational, heavenly Chateauneuf-du-Pape that tops out my scale. This cuvee is 100% Grenache that was not destemmed and was aged in 20% demi-muids and the balance in concrete tanks. Drinking window 2021 -2041."

Domaine Vincent Paris "La Geynale" Cornas 2013

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
91+ Wine Advocate
(11/18/2015) "As normal, the 2013 Cornas la Geynale is the most structured, tannic and age-worthy in the lineup. Coming from the Geynale and Reynard lieux-dits, and fermented with 100% whole clusters, it spent 18 months all in two- to eight-year-old barrels. Its inky purple, mostly opaque color gives way to masculine (classic Cornas!) notes of crushed rocks, charcoal, wood smoke and plums. Big, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and with plenty of tannin, it needs 2-4 years of cellaring and will drink well for a decade after that."

E.Guigal Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 2015

92+ Our Score
91 Wine Advocate

(2/2019) "This is a strapping Crozes-Hermitage, and a terrific example of the combination of power and finesse possible in the 2015 vintage. Culled from parcels in four villages, most of the vines growing on steep granite slopes, the wine is initially gruff and ungiving, the fruit walled off by tannins, oak and the simple density of the extract. But give it a few hours in a decanter and the structure begins to fill with flavor, juicy blackberry and plum notes welling up to meet the austere minerality head-on. It feels more Hermitage than Crozes, the firm tannins and deep, concentrated flavor demanding more time in the cellar to relax and reveal their detail."

From The Tank Cotes du Rhone Rouge NV 3.0 LT

86 Our Score
(5/2018) The "From the Tank" line is a special project of high quality boxed wines from importers Jenny & Francois Selections. This 3L box is the equivalent of 4 regular bottles of wine and can be kept for up to 3 - 4 weeks after opening. Not to mention the packaging is extremely environmentally friendly, leaving a far smaller footprint than traditional bottles. The goal was to source the highest quality organic fruit from some of their producers and make friendly everyday wines that are simple, accessible and naturally made. This will never be accused of being too modern or polished. This is gusty rough and tumble stuff that has a backbone and a rustic, roasty personality.

The White is 100% Chardonnay sourced from Costieres de Nimes. The flavor profile is light and fresh, with just a touch of creamy texture. This is very easygoing and could fill a number of roles, from porch-pounding on a sunny afternoon, to big parties. This is well-made wine that just happens to come in a box. These are some of the best boxed wines on the market.

Not to mention the packaging is extremely environmentally friendly, leaving a far smaller footprint than traditional bottles. The goal was to source the highest quality organic fruit from some of their producers and make friendly everyday wines that are simple, accessible and naturally made. The Rose is a blend of 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah. The nose may trick you into thinking there is more fruit to this wine but when you taste it, the palate is totally brisk and clean. Minerality, hints of watermelon and acidity mix to create a refreshing, not overbearing, wine. This natural wine is one to drink with summer fare: salads, Mediterranean fare, light finger foods and more. Of course, you can also enjoy this refreshing, light wine cold sitting on the back porch. A natural wine at this price is a steal.
