Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Riesling Spatlese 2017

99 James Suckling
(9/19/2018) "Most people who drink wine know what a ripe peach tastes like. However, this wine gives you a completely new appreciation of the meaning of the word "peach". Beyond that, it possesses subtlety that is extremely rare anywhere in the world of food and wine. From organically grown grapes. Fair'n Green certification. Absolutely delicious now, but could be held for decades."

Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2017

90 Wine Advocate
94 James Suckling
(2/22/2018) "Some very stony and flinty aromas with graphite. Red and dark plums, too. Smells fresh and very complex already. The palate has great density and a fine, compressed tannin texture, as well as a very focused finish. Spiced black cherries and blackberries, cassis and dark chocolate to close. Short carbonic maceration and juice is racked off during the carbonic process. A captivatingly powerful but focused Morgon. No Cote du Puy due to the hail in 2017. Best from 2020."

Olivier Cousin-Leduc "Pur Breton" Anjou Rouge 2017

Winemaker's Notes
"100% Cabernet Franc is hand-harvested, brought to the winery by a horse, destemmed and gently pressed. Only natural yeasts are used and the juice undergoes an extended maceration. Aged in old oak barrels. Ripe plum, juicy cherry, red apple core and chalk tones dominate the nose. Crushed strawberries mixed with invigoratingly fresh Bing cherry and red apple flavors explode on the palate."

Benedicte and Stephane Tissot "DD" Arbois Rouge 2017

92 Our Score
(11/2018) Natural wine done right! Tissot is a certified biodynamic grower in the Jura region of eastern France. They are one of our favorite producers of French sparkling wine outside of the Champagne region and they also make delicious still wines, including this blend of 1/3 each Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau. Boasting beautifully pure fruit and floral notes along with incredible energy and lift, the "DD" is bottled without the addition of any sulfur dioxide and as such is not for long-term aging. Drink young, as the wine is fresh, alive and delicious right now. This super cool nerdy wine would be brilliant with turkey, ham, duck or lamb!

A Tribute to Grace Santa Barbara County Grenache Rose 2017

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $53.99!
91 Our Score
(5/2018) The arrival of Angela Osborne's "A Tribute to Grace" Rose is always much anticipated by staff and in-the-know customers. For those not familiar with the story, Angela - a New Zealand native - named the winery in honor of her grandmother, Grace, and these small-batch wines have developed quite a following. Crafted from specific biodynamically farmed blocks of Grenache in the Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard, Angela's 2017 Rose is incredibly finessed and beautifully structured. On the nose and palate there are a symphony of orange rind, white tea and red flowers. The finish is zesty and perfectly balanced by a bit of richness. The wine is amazing now, but it will be truly epic in another year. Dare we suggest decanting a Rose? Only 734 cases were produced of this incredibly finessed wine and we are thrilled to have been able to get our hands on some.
