Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Proprietary Blend 2015 3.0 LT

97 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
96 Wine Advocate
99 James Suckling
(8/29/2017) "I love the currant and rosemary character of this wine. Some sage, too. Complex aromas that draw you in. Full body, extremely tight and chewy with a long and intense finish. The tannins are fantastic - so polished. Focused and beautiful. Mineral undertone with ash and hot stone highlighting the dark fruits. It goes on for minutes. Needs three or four years to come together. But a serious red all the way."

Herman Story Wines "Bolt Cutter" California Red 2015

93 Our Score
(12/2017) We really dig the big flavors of Herman Story wines and wish he made more Cabernet-based wines like this "Bolt Cutter" blend of 42% Cabernet, 32% Petit Verdot and 26% Syrah - sourced from some pretty famous vineyards, including Shadow Canyon and White Hawk. We could tell you all about the powerful mouthfeel and the super dense fruit flavors, but these notes from proprietor Russell P. From if more intriguing than anything we could ever write... "If Merle Haggard and Neil Young had ever released that metal record it would be playing on this train as it blew through the California deserts, carrying it's payload of blackberrycola sorbet on a quest for the coast: granite talus, smoked black cherry, flame kissed gingerbread village, crispy blueberry sage handpie, road tar, perfect powerchords and lightning struck oxen." We're not exactly sure what that means, but the wine is really freaking delicious. Drink now and over the next 4-5 years. For best results, decant an hour or two prior to serving.

Desparada "Sackcloth & Ashes" California Proprietary Red 2015

93 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
93 Jeb Dunnuck
(8/10/2017) "A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot, the 2015 Sackcloth and Ashes is a straight up delicious red that's loaded with notions of cassis, incense, peppery herbs and hints of lead pencil. Medium to full-bodied, polished, elegant and with tons of fruit, drink this sexy, yet elegant 2015 over the coming 7-8 years."

Venge Vineyards "Scout's Honor" Napa Valley Red Blend 2016

92 Our Score
93 Wine Advocate
(10/29/2018) "The 2016 Scout's Honor is blended of 70% Zinfandel, 14% Charbono, 9% Petite Sirah and 7% Syrah. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it offers up baked raspberries, fruitcake, dusty soil and Chinese five spice scents with touches of tobacco and potpourri. Full-bodied with a velvety texture and loads of spice-laced berry preserves flavors, it finishes long and opulent. Drink 2018 - 2027."

Benedicte and Stephane Tissot "DD" Arbois Rouge 2017

92 Our Score
(11/2018) Natural wine done right! Tissot is a certified biodynamic grower in the Jura region of eastern France. They are one of our favorite producers of French sparkling wine outside of the Champagne region and they also make delicious still wines, including this blend of 1/3 each Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau. Boasting beautifully pure fruit and floral notes along with incredible energy and lift, the "DD" is bottled without the addition of any sulfur dioxide and as such is not for long-term aging. Drink young, as the wine is fresh, alive and delicious right now. This super cool nerdy wine would be brilliant with turkey, ham, duck or lamb!

Occhipinti "SP68" Terre Siciliane Nero D'Avola/Frapatto 2016

93 James Suckling
93 Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(9/2017) "Dark ruby. Archetypal Frappato aromas that are pungently floral and bright, complicated by hints of dried herbs and spicy red berries. Then fresh, bright and lovely, with blackberry, raspberry and delicate herb flavors that are very complex and multilayered. Finishes long, mineral and juicy. Arianna Occhipinti has the Frappato variety nailed down and rarely makes anything but a great wine with it, so this blend comes up aces, offering a ton of flavor and only 12.5% alcohol."

From The Tank Cotes du Rhone Rouge NV 3.0 LT

86 Our Score
(5/2018) The "From the Tank" line is a special project of high quality boxed wines from importers Jenny & Francois Selections. This 3L box is the equivalent of 4 regular bottles of wine and can be kept for up to 3 - 4 weeks after opening. Not to mention the packaging is extremely environmentally friendly, leaving a far smaller footprint than traditional bottles. The goal was to source the highest quality organic fruit from some of their producers and make friendly everyday wines that are simple, accessible and naturally made. This will never be accused of being too modern or polished. This is gusty rough and tumble stuff that has a backbone and a rustic, roasty personality.

Ampeleia "Unlitro" Toscana Rosso 2017 1.0 LT

Unlitro is back! Another awesome vintage of this oh-so-cool red from Elisabetta Foradori.
90 Our Score
(8/2018) Elisabetta Foradori has skillfully crafted this playful 1-liter Tuscan red blend of Alicante (Grenache), Carignan and Alicante Bouschet. The wine is meant to drink young, even with a little chill, either with or without food. It's the perfect bottle for wine geeks and newcomers alike, as it gives plenty of juicy and fresh fruit flavors and lively energy. So fun, and 1/3rd more wine than in a regular size bottle!

La Boutanche "Rouge" Vin de France Rouge 2017 1.0 LT

89 Our Score
(11/2018) The new La Boutanche "Rouge" from Martin Texier is a blend of primarily Syrah with a dash of Grenache. Martin's offerings simply keep getting better and better! Fresh and bright with just the right amount of spice, smoke and lingering notes of bacon fat to go along with the beautiful floral aromatics in a dangerously chug-able package. This is all you could want in everyday Rhone wine.
