(1/31/2023) The spicy and peppery 2020 Pepe Yllera was an improvement over the already great 2019 I tasted next to it. It's serious, fresh, juicy, velvety and balanced. It's medium-bodied, velvety and very tasty, fresh, elegant, serious and young. This tasted like a much more expensive bottle of wine. Drink Date: 2023 - 2028.

(1/17/2024) A touch of botanicals and espresso on top of the sweet cherries and blackberries. Quite structured on the palate with medium to full body and some chewy tannins. Quite robust now. Try from 2025.

(9/2023) The 2020 Pepe Yllera is a 100% Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. Garnet-red in color. The nose reveals sour cherry, wild herbs, bay leaf and faint undertones of undergrowth. The palate is dry and rich, with tannins that provide buoyant support to a precise, oaky presence that lingers at the back of the throat. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2035.
