What We Think
Vin Chicago: 91 Points
(6/2025) An impressive 100% Sangiovese from an esteemed Brunello producer, this full-bodied single-vineyard red is in its peak drinking window, and casts more than a passing resemblance to a full-bore Brunello. From a lower-elevation, northeastern facing site with clay soils, this is a Tuscan red with resonance and a thick base - its gravitas all delivered by the fruit, as it is aged in concrete barrels rather than oak. Notes of preserved black cherry, toasted cumin seed, warm soils, orange, oregano. Impactful and coating for the category, in a dream vintage — this Rosso is simultaenously overachieving and the Vin Chicago price is unusually low - as this wine is typically over $40!
