What We Think
Vin Chicago: 91+ Points
(7/2026) Punching WELL above its weight class in 2022, Chateau de Francs continues to be a house favorite here with great intensity and a fuller, darker tone than the standard bottling - and a still audaciously attractive price tag. This dispatched much pricier competition in blind tasting.
What Critics Think
Decanter : 90 Points
(4/17/2023) Straight and lean, this has tension and grip from the start, tannins have both a lovely weight and support as well as a soft powdery texture with crushed stones, blackcurrant and cherries with racy acidity all adding to the whole. Dense and chewy, round and full, a touch spiced on the finish but this will be for lovely, easy drinking still with freshness all the way through. Well worked, a slightly more plush take, but I like it. Ageing 12-14 months in French oak, 33% new, 66% one year old. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2036.
James Suckling : 92-93 Points
(4/5/2023) Plenty of fruit with chewy tannins and crushed stone. Bright acidity. Medium body. Juicy finish.
