The Wine Independent : 95+ Points
6/12/2024) A blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Montlandrie has a deep garnet-purple color. It is slightly closed to start, needing some patient swirling to bring out notes of black and red cherries, juicy plums, and licorice, followed by hints of Sichuan pepper, tar, and underbrush. The full-bodied palate has a fine-grained texture and alluring tension to frame the tightly wound black and red fruit, finishing long and minerally. Drinking: 2025-2047.

(12/2022) The 2020 Montlandrie, the Durantou family's Cotes de Castillon, is fabulous. It is another very serious wine in this range. A core of dark Merlot fruit gradually opens, releasing complicating notes of spice, leather, incense and licorice. There's real depth and gravitas. A few years in the cellar seem prudent, as there is a lot of wine here. The purity of the flavors is just striking. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2035.
