(12/1/2022) This is, like most in the vast D'Arenberg red wine stable, a sturdy, rich and concentrated wine. But this bottling also finds balance, freshness and a lovely spicy complexity, the fruit components melding with notes of eucalyptus, bay leaf, iodine and a subtly charred, chocolaty oak character. The palate is full-figured but linear, with raspy, well-placed tannins counterbalanced by plush fruit. It finishes a little dry and oaky. Would be a cracker with a lamb or beef roast.
